I think theres still time for a potential "small" signing to get him a serviceable partner. |

I do think Trouba will be better as the team around him is going to be better, and he will adjust in his 2nd yr in NY. It's just that money in hindsight is rather steep along with the term.
Getting a nice complementary partner to go with him should be a major priority for the team ...

Jan, you need to edit the title of the blog and attach Dom's name to the article. As soon as I saw the title I knew it had to be Dom. The guy is a complete hack. It's painfully obvious he's never even seen an actual game because his face is always buried in a spreadsheet.
While Trouba didn't have a great year, look at the Rangers as a whole, their roster, the system, they way they deployed players in situations. Trouba does not have the #6 worst contract in the league. And how does Dom say he's trending down? It's laughable.
Biden should hire Dom to run some stats to see where we're getting our energy from when he bans coal, oil, and natural gas. |

This Athletic article is awful, might as well put a bunch of those bad Shayyna color charts that are impossible to interpret next to it. |

The sad part is that this was actually one of Dom's better articles.
Agree with you about Shayna too, just awful. |

Its the middle of an unprecedented off-season for hockey. Clearly they are desperate to write SOMETHING, so they scrape the bottom of the barrel with this nonsense. |

So I was having a pretty thorough discussion with someone on CF about our cap situation.
Its looking like before the year is over we need to have around 6.5m in available cap space to cover performance bonuses to prevent an overage penalty that will roll over to next year. |

Trouba missed playing with Morrissey as much as Morrissey missed having Trouba as his partner. With Pionk and Heinola being the return for Trouba the Jets won this trade. |

One way or another, in a year or 2... there will be a partner for Trouba. Whether its Miller, Jones, Robertson or Reunanen. |

Tough to poke holes in the list - Dom uses an analytical model, so no personal biases apply
But how on earth is JVR not on this list?? Hayes is obvious, but I’d argue JVR is worse

Fortunately for us, he doesnt have to be here. Between DeAngelo and Fox, then whats in the pipeline, he can just focus on being consistent, tough and reliable. |

This is one more reason that finding Trouba a solid D partner is a priority. He needs to have a good season. He's a huge part of this team's present and future. I think his contract will be more than worth it when all is said and done. |

Trouba spends too much time chasing the big hit instead of actually defending.
Dude is simply way too expensive for a "good not great" defender who doesn't contribute on the PP. |

I always thought that Trouba was overrated. My fellow Jets fans would passionately disagree with me. I guess I was right! |

He’s 26 years old.
He led the team in hits and minutes played on a team desperate for a physical presence.
If the Rangers knew the pandemic was coming and the cap wouldn’t be going up like everyone agreed it was going to, yes they probably wouldn’t have signed Trouba to that much money.
But they can’t be faulted for that.
No matter what, Trouba has probably a 95% chance of leading the team in ice time once again and they need his presence desperately. |

You kinda blew up your argument with your last paragraph. Talk about “laughable”. What’s laughable is that anyone might believe that the incoming administration could or even want do such a thing. And besides, global warming is a hoax. Right? |
