😂😂
Some ppl are too guarded & down on him. Idk why tbh cuz at 10oa it wasn't like he was picked ahead of guaranteed top 6 players who would impact the league. His skill set alone was we need.& give it some time. |

On another topic...
This season & next I hope JB just eats it with vet contracts & save top picks. Next draft is D heavy & we could scoop more D depth to groom. 2022 is shaping up to be a tremendous draft of talent & BPA most likely to be another good prospect added. |

All good teams ride their big defensive pairs. Tampa, Columbus, Dallas, Colorado the list goes on! I’d like Vancouver to fo the same. Hughes and Schmidt should be the TOI leaders on D. - neem55
All those teams you listed have more depth of D talent already in the league unless you claim our D is on their levels?
I think once OJ settles in & Rathbone is ready we will be very mobile & talented. Other D prospects will fill in as complimentary partners. This will take 2-4 years in my estimation to fully happen. |

Potential D pairings in 2-4 years...
Hughes Schmidt
OJ Myers
Rathbone Woo
Utunen
Those are intriguing potentials if prospects can develop properly. Abundance of scoring & skating with some meanness mixed in. |

Pod led the Karjala Cup in scoring. Pretty good for a U20 team in a mens tournament. |

just goes to show nobody has a clue until a prospect actually plays a NHL game. |

About as many that can see him a career 4th liner. Middle 6 is much better. Just sayin... |

Apparently Cody Hodgson, CHL Player of the Year, World Juniors star and tournament leading scorer, is a forgotten memory. The NHL is a different animal.
If Podkolzin only played with his peers and he had great success I’d be more excited, the fact he struggles against men concerns me. Yes there’s a KHL factor at play, however, if he could help his KHL team win you can bet your ass he’d be playing more....because winning matters. |

Wilson not having one of his better games and the defence has been a hot mess, although playing better in the second half. |

I agree with middle 6, I laugh at the poster who penciled him in the top 6 when he gets here. |

He’d only be top line if he went nuts or as a 3rd wheel. Also if for balance if 3 lines deep that can hold their own or better. That isn’t the case now or do I see it soon. I’ll peg him with Gaudette to start & move up if JV sucks or traded. That would mean Lind ready for 3rd line duties but that’s not realistic yet. MacEwen is the other option but he hasn’t proven himself yet & should be a good 4th liner once bottom 6 vets expire. |

So in the AHL then. Not even sure they will have a season. |

Let him get used to NA, learn the language, develop properly before he displaces Gaudette & JV.

We must place Rathbone, Podkolzin, Hoglander etc, into every roster.
I don't feel comfortable claiming Hughes and Schmidt as top pairing players, as this teams best defender is still Edler.
