good blog Karine, although names like Réjean Houle and Mario Tremblay bring back painful memories lol... the habs do seem to be on the right track now though, so let's hope the players and owners agree on something quickly so we can see them in action as soon as January.

Réjean Houle and Mario Tremblay; names from the past. Réjean Houle (& Marc Tardiff) were the last 2 players the Habs were able to claim under the “French Canadian Rule” prior to the draft. This practice stopped the following year when Gilbert Perreault became available (otherwise he would have also been a Hab).
Houle had an outstanding final junior season on a prolific scoring line with Marc Tardif and Gilbert Perreault for the Montreal Junior Canadiens in the 1968-69 season. After a brief stint with Habs both Tardiff and eventually Houle went to the WHA to play for the Nordiques. Houle later came back and had an average playing career with the Habs but a very controversial stint as general manager for the Canadiens. He was a terrific junior hockey player, a great WHA player, a so-so NHL player but we will remember him as one of the worst GM’s in the Habs history.
And then there was Mario Tremblay who cracked the Habs line up as an 18 year old and became a good defensive forward who had four 30 goals seasons with the Habs. Do we remember his 30 goal seasons; NO, he is largely remembered for his tumultuous time as head coach; specifically when Tremblay left Patrick Roy in net for nine goals during an 11-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings at the Forum. Houle traded Roy.
Both Houle and Tremblay were decent players who had no experience in the GM or Head Coach position and should have never been placed in that spot. As a consequence we remember and highlight their failures and forget their successes.
