I don't want Hoffman taking up roster space with Podkolzin and Hoglander on the way. Or cap space for that long with raises to Pettersen and Hughes(among others) coming up in that time. 1 year deal or GTFO. Vancouver's biggest need right now is patience.

Loui and every 1st round pick until 2057 to New Jersey
Hoffman then signs in Boston anyway so the B's beat Vancouver like it's 2011 all over again |

Benning already said he's not trading top prospects or 1st round picks to move Eriksson. There's no incentive for any team to take on the remaining 2 years at 6 mil AAV of Loui's contract. No sweeteners. No deal. There's nothing to see here. Jimmy likely buys Loui out next summer. I can't see Seattle taking him in the Expansion draft. |

Aquilini can make him an offer he can't refuse

Hoffman's psycho girlfriend can be hired for this job. |

Counter proposal. We'll give you the LTIR of Dubinsky's contract, you give us Sven Baertschi and 2 2nd rounders. Then Loui will be much easier to move when you need to resign everyone. |

Eklund: You're the GM. Challenge. Move Loui Erickson ... Rumor Update Next. Buzz@1 - Eklund
To Jersey: Eriksson 2M AAV retained, a 2nd rd pick, and Schmidt
To Van: Will Butcher
Free's up 8.2M AAV for the next 2 seasons while replacing Schmidt with a cheap top 4 D in Butcher. Butch isn't a complete D, but you have to take a loss to shed that bad contract.
Gives Jersey the #1LD they desperately need, and Erikson can find an opening in the bottom 6.
I'd hold off on bidding on Hoffman until you have Hughes and Petterson both extended.

What teams would be on Louie's trade-to list??? Certainly not any of the teams that have cap space!
With Benning unwilling to add a sweetener, you would have to trade another bad contract for Louie, which would give Van no cap space to sign any one else! |

Or we can trade Loui straight up for Dubois? Why haven't you guys signed him yet? |

This would only create 1.75 mil in cap space. |

There is no getting creative... you approach NJ, and you offer them Ericksson..retain 33%(2mil) per season, throw in Kole Lind, and one of Rathbone or Juolevi. Then you're going to have to bury Baertschi.
Done. 5mil in space for Hoff.
...and yes. Absolutely it would be terrible, however..this is Bennings mess. He did it. |

But our problems will be solved when we put someone on LTIR. You are not locking in your franchise player. Big difference.

I think Hoffman is more of a longer term solution for Pearson; Pod and Hog could still push the next couple years. |
