Other than Stolarz, in order to meet the expansion draft criteria, another goalie would have had to sign for 2 years also. Signing for 1 year and becoming UFA at the end of the season would be pointless. The only goalie that met the expansion criteria was Gibson (possibly Eriksson Ek too, not sure). No way he's exposed. Good for Stolarz in asking for a 2 year deal.
Allows Dostal to get his feet wet with the Gulls for a season or 2. |

The extension begins in the 21-22 season. So a one-year contract would have sufficed for the expansion draft. |
