Final was either 7-2 or 8-3 depending on if the 6 on 5 OT goals (Hronek for team Red and Hirose from team White) count toward the final. Much better pace than Wednesday. Larkin line is the dominant line to be sure. Fabbri with Zadina and Rasmussen tonight made some really nice plays and were rewarded with a goal. On team white Glendening with Brome and Namestnikov had some nice looks. Brome and Namestnikov both very creative in the corners and on the rush. Greiss was just really good and made a lot of nice stops. |

Good rundown. Really like the impressions you have of the 2d line...There arrival will take away focus on LARMAZZI, which they desperately need. Hicketts sounds like he my be a sleeper, hell...can’t be any worse than what we had last year!! So here’s the concern: Too much effort to carry the team by Larkin. He can’t do it all. Brings to mind this young kid who was drafted onto a really dismal squad, broken his nards to make a name for himself, racked up tons of goals, but the team didn’t really improve. Then this coach came along and taught the kid to dish the biscuit, share the responsibility. Oddly, that team became a hickey power-house. He became The Captain, and Detroit became HockeyTown. The similarities between Larkin & The Captain are amazing. The missing link? A good coach who made players take responsibility for their actions, who took the heat for the team when they had issues.
Detroit’s on the right path. Blash isn’t the only reason we’re crappy, but leaders are responsible for happens, or fails to happen, on their watch. Patton never ONCE threw his Soldiers under the bus, he ALWAYS took the blame when things went poorly. When his unit excelled, he pushed the praise directed towards him....to his Soldiers. Hockey is by no means the Army, but leadership is leadership. Detroit needs a damn good leader. It’s time. |

I like the thinking. I do see that Larkin is playing a lot of 200 ft hockey as well. If he can excel in 3 zones at a high pace and still contribute it’s going to be awesome. Yzerman had a lot of one on ones with Larks. Going to be great |

Yep, more depth for a rough season.
Will have a vet defender after Stahl and Dekeyser leave at the trade deadline. - HenryHockey
We're stuck with Dekeyser. Staal could be moved at the trade deadline if he's healthy. Stevie would have to retain 50%. |

Crawford RETIRES!!!

That's too bad. I thought Crawford/Blackwood would've been a solid goalie tandem. Maybe Jimmy Howard gets a call? |

I like the Djoos pickup. My impression: good offensive driver, below average defensively. Basically a (noticeably) improved, left handed version of Madison Bowey.
He's definitely a third pairing guy but not a bad one I don't think. He also gives us some tactical options since basically all the other lefties on the team are allergic to offense. Merrill and Nemeth are both shutdown guys, Staal is terrible at everything, and DeKeyser is a total wildcard after his injury (and wasn't that great offensively even when healthy).
Could be that he's destined for the taxi squad (or even GR, where he'd probably be the best defender on the team by a wide margin) but I also think having him at 3LD, 2PP in Detroit could make a lot of sense. |

Hey all! Thanks for picking up on the Djoos claim. There were so many players on waivers yesterday, this is an interesting grab. Sorry to hear about Crawford. I’d wondered what had happened when he left camp yesterday. |

With Barzal, Martin, Greene and Schneider signed... Lou is likely done. - gergeswillems
Cap Friendly has NONE of those 3 contracts listed and NYI is $3.1M over cap. And w/Boycuk's LTIR that wouuld put them w/ $2.9M to sign Greene, Martin and Corey. Martin was reported at $1.5MAAV, if I remember....
That leaves $1.4M for Greene and Corey.......

Isles have to wait until day 1 of season to put Boychuk on LTIR. These deals have been unofficially official for over a month now. Corey Schneider won't be on the active roster. He'll be on the taxi squad so his salary won't count against the cap. He's the 3rd goalie behind Varly and Sorokin. |

Quick update, see tweet on the main blog page. Injury parade sees five sitting it out today. Zadina and Fabbri may just be bumps/bruises but Ryan, Svechnikov and Helm all deemed “unfit to play”. |

Larsson loaned to Denmark for the season. Djoos is a decent pick-up, but that may not play out if GR decides against a season. Seems an odd acquisition...🤔 |

Dallas’ season delayed, Pitt shut down for an indeterminate time frame due to potential exposure...Svech seems to attract health issues... Hope Zadina, Fabbri, & Ryan aren’t COVID casualties, but who knows what’s really going on. Maybe the Taxi Squads should be expanded to 10? |

Petan on waivers....
Crawford retiring is shocking. NJD are rumored to be talking to AZ about Raanta...Jimmy was told to call next year 😬😬 |
