I would have made this deal whether I was the Jets general manager or the Blue Jackets general manager. But I'd rather have Laine than Dubois because Laine is game-changer because of his release and shot. Dubois is a very good hockey player, but he doesn't have that 'wow' factor.
I also appreciate the Roslovic component. He's never going to be a big scorer, but he's dependable and has some up-side.
Pure gut feeling: I think the Blue Jackets have a better chance of persuading Laine to sign long-term than the Jets have of securing Dubois long-term.
