Have to wonder why a guy who has been so productive in the NHL is on his 5th team in galgchenyuk. Can’t argue against his goal scoring ability in the regular season though. |

Also, it has been reported that his dad is way too involved.
According to Francois Gagnon, Galchenyuk's father verbally berated him after every game (apparently journalists were witnesses to this), and Alex was constantly on his phone between periods reading the "feedback" from his dad. |

Ek says this was a brilliant move by Carolina. Because of Paquette. But your analysis is spot on. They create a bit of cap space for another move to come. All 3 guys were UFAs. Not complicated. So |

I felt that Galchenyuk was never really given a good opportunity to succeed. He has a great shot.
Paquette was the worst player on the Sens. |

I thought that too, for a little bit.
But I gotta ask, how many teams before he’s gotten an opportunity? 3? 4?
Because this makes 6... |

I'm comfortable with the trade. RD was being paid too much to be a fourth liner. No long term commitment given to Paquette or Gally. It frees up cap space. |

Good move for both teams. |

If they demote both of these retreads, combined they will only carry $575,000 against the cap. Had they chosen to bury Dzingle instead of making this trade, he would still carry a cap hit of $2.3 million while off-roster. Thus, this otherwise incidental trade has the propensity to provide the Canes with $1.725 million in cap relief, which can go a long way at the deadline. Waddell made a great deal to correct a foolish signing. Fortunately for the Canes, the Sens are utterly mismanaged. |
