Theo Fox: Mobile Carriers
A look at how the blueline is evolving to be a more mobile yet defensively responsible crew as the Blackhawks rebuild the blueline for the future. |

Nice write up Theo, i believe that's the most critical thing for this org developing young defenseman who can compete or even excel at the NHL level.
It's nice they have layers of them all over the place, college, Europe, Rockford |

Would we trade Strome for Bennett.Isn’t Bennett hard to play against. He would look good on the 1st pp unit.Strome would get you more points for sure, but Bennett brings another element that the Hawks haven’t seen since a young Shaw.To be honest,I haven’t seen enough of him except in the playoffs last year.He was dam good.Your thoughts. |

Another excellent write up, thank, you, Theo.
One Of The fine things about this Board is being able to glean insight from folks who able to see and tell us how the minor league and junior & NCAA guys are developing as they move up the ladder.
Defense wins championships. |

My thoughts exactly! Sing me in. Strome has probably more offensive upside but I think that Bennett fits better in Collitons system and he has been really good in play offs..ones Hawks get there though..

Theo, nice blog, but (and I can see why with all the prospects), but Vlasic is having a breakout season with BU this year, including starting to provide offense while being on BU’s top defensive pairing.
My bad, you mention him in the last part of the blog. If I was in school, there is an F for me (do they still give those out Breadman)? |

And Strome does not fit into Calgary’s system.

A doable trade for sure. Have check Bennet's salary before suggesting Stan gets it done. The only other thing is this: Bennet figures to be a bottom line player and we have plenty here or coming. With salary cap do we afford Bennet? This could kill the trade proposal. As for Calgary, they have Lindholm and Monahan offensive point producer centers plus Backlund. Would they want Strome. Guadreau and Tkachuk are the big scorers on he wing + Mangiopane. Nordstrom is hanging on as fourth line btw |

He'd have been a pretty good player in the 90's when players were slower. |

Bennett has more speed, more grit and is more responsible defensively, Strome will put up more points. Strome’s game has the potential to be a top two center if he can get stronger, Bennett is more of a third line center and will probably have a lower cap hit going forward due to less offensive production. If Toews comes back 100% healthy, then Bennett is the better option for the Hawks when you take into consideration all the points above. JMHO |

The you defensemen and goalies and exceeded expectations. I’m sure they’ll have a stretch of games where they struggle but they’ve shown that they can learn and adapt.
Lankinen has the potential to be a true #1 but I don’t have confidence that the Hawks have that future #1 d-man in the system. Maybe (big maybe) Boqvist or Mitchell can develop into that role, but it’s more realistic that the Hawks will have a solid top 6 D without that true quarterback. On the bright side, Keith will probably play until he’s 50 so he can be used in that capacity for a while. |

I think the same about the forwards (possible Dach becomes that). |

Interesting line combos - two centers Strome and Kurashev moved to wing with Suter slotted at 1C. IIRC Strome wasn't too effective last year at wing. We'll see what happens if this is the next game actual lineup.
Beaudin down to 4th pair because of Murphy's return. Maybe he'll slot in as the 7D in a 11F/7D lineup.
Back to Kurashev...anybody have a nickname for him? How about Chevy? A few less key strokes to enter.

For 2010 they had Keith and Campbell as these type of DMen. In 2013 Oduya would also fit the description. Especially in 2010, what else made them so successful at flipping the ice? That year it seemed the transition from their zone to offense was incredible. |

Nor could anyone keep the puck from Hossa. Best backchecker ever. |

Did we loan Strome out to the Panthers? I imagine it's got to be his fault they lost to the pitiful Red Wings yesterday. |
