Makes zero sense. Why would the leafs even give a second of a thought downgrading their goaltending?! How would this make sense even on mars?! |

I'm sure the Leafs are looking at Quick. Just like all playoff contenders are looking at Frans Nielsen. |

Fresh off a 9 year ban, I am back, and I am not surprised this clown is still posting garbage "rumors" he makes up in his basement. Wow. |

Andersen has played poorly, Quick would be a nice addition! |

This would make zero sense if you're going to upgrade a position you don't trade for an older player on the back nine of his career |

I had no clue he was still playing , I thought he was on injury reserve pseudo cap relief for the Wings |

Why would Detroit want Bobby Ryan back next year? He Is way past his prime and at 35 years old not worth a roster spot on a team In the Infancy of a rebuild. |

I thought Kuemper was the guy everyone was looking at? He was by far the hottest commodity this season. Then you said MAF? Then Gibson? But now it's Quick, who is clearly a downgrade from Anderson. Is there anyone else? King Henry? Hasek? Is Jimmy Howard still a possibility? |

Bobby Ryan has played well for a bad Red Wings team and is definitely worth a roster spot. He missed some time with covid and injuries. But you'd have to watch the games to know this. He'll likely get at least a 3rd round pick at the trade deadline. A 2nd if there's enough interest.
I'll gladly take him back on the Wings next season. You can't just throw out a team full of 18-22 year olds and expect to improve. Bobby Ryan will be a solid addition for any playoff contender. 1 mil AAV and can move up and down your lineup. He's gone through quite a bit in his life and has straightened himself out. I'd love to have him mentoring guys like Zadina, Veleno, Seider and eventually Raymond. |

As you said you can't ice a complete team of 18 - 22 year olds. Need a guy like Ryan to fill out the rosters, who's familiar with the NHL and is likely low maintenance to the staff.
Followed up by, you can supress ELC contracts if need be this way too.

Frans has played a few games but he's mostly been a healthy scratch/taxi squad guy. He has 1 year left on his contract. Hopefully he's bought out this summer. |

I just think Bobby Ryan is a quality player and person and his teammates really like him. But he can still play too. The Red Wings don't have players who can finish so most of the offense he creates is wasted.
I'm not saying Bobby Ryan is an elite offensive player but he still has some game left. If you put him with a contender he'll score you some goals and make your team tougher to match up against. I think the Pens will trade for him eventually because Brian Burke is there. He drafted him. |

Ek, I wonder if the Leafs should have looked into Jonas Johansson You noted that the Avs acquired him for a ridiculously low price of a 6th round pick. Like how ridiculous to get a guy like that for just a 6th round pick. Seems like the Leafs dropped the ball there.
P.S. In his first start for the Avs, Johansson let in 4 goals against the Coyotes. The game ended 4-4. In the shootout, he let in all 3 shots. Ridiculous... |
