The General is 100% correct. The CBJ is playing like Buffalo Central, and it's time for the fire sale and cleaning house behind the bench. It was fun while it lasted, now the CBJ will spend years in the cellar trying to build something like a marginal playoff team.

Something to build on for the Red Wings no doubt, Columbus Is clearly the better team here but the Jackets have given up on Tortorella and I would bet this sweep gets Torts canned before seasons end.

The way Columbus played these 2 games against Detroit reminded me of how the Leafs were playing right before Babcock was fired.

I disagree. Obviously, you’re coming from a different perspective and I appreciate that. For me, Detroit’s execution, physicality and back check stood out on their own. There were plenty of games where Detroit has been awful, not even attempting to size up the opponent. In this, I felt like they brought it start to finish. CBJ is spiraling a bit, but I have to give credit to this team when they step up and play. It’s not nearly consistent enough, but I give them a ton of credit for these two

Hey, General...thanks for popping by. We appreciate you joining us!!

So, list, CBJ has a really good team. I listened to the game on the radio as I was driving to VA from the mountains in SC. From what I heard of today's game, Detroit showed up, and Lord Stanley smiled upon the. CBJ seems to be in a rut. Ya'll have some talent for sure. But here's the thing: This season sucks for everyone. I'm a bit of a Jecket fan, so was truly surprised at b2b losses. But that's the crappy part of this season, I reckon.

I'd advise against throwing the baby out with the bathwater. For 2 games, Detroit brought a passion that's been sorely missed. But, make no mistake; the Wings have talent. There are some peculiar happening in Columbus, but I'd be hesitant to count the Jackets out. May be the time to change the dynamic a bit, but not wholesale changes....unless ya wanma cough up a G-Man to the Wings😂😂 You guys'll be ok. Dude! And much sooner than the Wings....but, watch yer back 🤨

In 2 starts he has matched Greiss's win total!! Of coarse Greiss had no goal support in 98% of his games!

I hope Greiss can break the Jimmy Howard 2 win barrier. It's uncanny how the Red Wings can't score many goals for Greiss.

This is a big week for the Wings, four games on the road. This week is a nice test and being on the road together may help. Sad to see Ryan go down again.

Wings seem to play much better at home while $hitting the bed on the road.

It is a little ridiculous

Goal support / 60
Bernier - 2.71
Greiss - 1.51

Now granted Greiss has also not been playing nearly as well as Bernier on top of the poor goal support he’s getting, but I’m still struggling a bit to grapple with the goals versus expected models, which put Greiss firmly in the hunt for worst goalie in the NHL right now.

As much skepticism as I have for the eye test I … really don’t feel like that’s the case from just watching him? Like, he has obviously not been good, but I also don’t feel like I’m seeing a repeat of Howard’s last season (or Osgood’s last, like, three) while watching him play.

I suspect that the public models are underestimating Greiss’ shot difficulty against to some degree. Also, if you break it down by situation he is getting absolutely ventilated on the penalty kill, whereas his even strength numbers have been bad but not appalling. How much of Greiss’ ugly statline is attributable to his own bad play, versus the team in front of him, versus luck, versus shot quality estimation errors in the GSAx models? Tough to say.

I just have a really hard time squaring the data with what my eyes are telling me. For sure, I’m open to the possibility that Greiss really has been that bad and my own biases are preventing me from being reasonably objective. But I dunno.

Also, here's my new favorite hockey stat (hat tip to Prashanth Iyer for the research):

Filip Hronek has scored 5 out of his 16 career goals (~31%) from his own zone.

It has to be frustrating for Greiss that the Wings played maybe their two best and most complete games of the entire season in Pickard's two starts.

That said, Pickard has played almost 4 games' worth of hockey (two starts plus two times relieving Greiss after less than 10 minutes played) and the team has scored 7 non-empty-net goals for him. Still not great overall.
