Sell it all. Let the youngsters marinate in Cleveland and play out the string with Matteau, Macinnis, Gerbe etc. Is this tanking? Absolutely. Who cares?? Not me. A potential top five pick vs. lucking into the four seed and getting your butt kicked by Tampa. Pass. The revenue with limited capacity isn’t worth setting this team back even further. No one is off limits in my opinion as long as it makes the team better next year and beyond. The players had the chance over the weekend to show Jarmo they can make a run and to add to the group, not subtract, and we all saw how that went. Rocco Grimaldi had more goals in four min against Detroit than the CBJ had in 120 min... Jesus. |

Thomas Townsend: Up and Back Down - Thomas Townsend
At lease Laine is playing himself down to a much more reasonable cap hit. Talks were north of 9M in Winnipeg. He's not playing a game worth a cent of 4M AAV as a jacket, and even that may be generous. Safe to say he isn't going to like any offers and settles on a 1 year deal to prove himself.
It's not easy when you don't have Scheifele or Wheeler serving them on a platter on the PP. |

Need to trade Laine to LA for a good center and more. Say for Anderson-Dolan and Kempe. I don't see him producing for CBJ's. |

Nashville is winning without Duchene. Maybe trade Laine + Domi for Duchene + Kunin + a 2nd

It's certainly Jarmo's time to sell. But not a "down to the walls" rebuild. At the TDL he should trade Foligno, Savard, Nash & DelZ. They are all UFAs and losing them doesn't leave a big hole in the offense - or defense. We have players who can step up and provide good play.
Plus, Foligno & Savard reportedly have good value, i.e. maybe 2nd rndr + prospect. Nash & DelZ would probably bring 4-6 rnd picks.
Trading them will force Torts to play the prospects that he's been mostly ignoring this season. Finally getting the full chance they deserve.
Unless Jarmo gets an offer that knocks his socks off, I don't expect him trading one of the goalies, or anyone else until off-season, maybe just before the expansion draft if it's Elvis. Although IMO Elvis has the higher ceiling of the two. Korpi has reached his ceiling.
The off-season is when he'll try to get his 1C, or at least a strong "b" level 1C or 2C. And when our trade chips would have higher value.
Also - by that point I'm expecting Torts to be gone. Which will change the attitude and outlook for a lot of players.

I watched the Sunday 3-0 loss to Florida. Was not impressed with Laine's effort.
