Well since Murray doesn’t communicate well at all w/ anybody we are left to guess as to what the hell is actually happening...

Also he Consistently Overvalues his players and demands a giant return from all reports.

It seems to me he also looks for the perfect deal instead of the good...

Let's see, Volkov for Mourand is turning into a steal. Haydn Fleury is already better than Jani Hakanpaa and he's only played one game.
As for Manson, Rackell, and Getzlaf. There was a deal with Winnipeg that included a first or a second, depending on how far the Jets went in the playoffs. Manson said no. That's what happens when your wife gets used to Socal. As for Rackell, he just doesn't generate any buzz so what Murray was asking for him wasn't going to happen. Was Barstool Bob pricing him too high? Definitely, but I'd rather have Rackell than a mid-round pick in a draft where the kids haven't played hockey in a year. As for Getzlaf, the Ducks and Ryan ok'd a trade where the Ducks would eat half his salary and get a pick and a decent prospect, although it wasn't Peyton Krebs, I asked about him specifically. Anyway, the reason that fell through was the Knights couldn't make the cap space work, even with the Ducks eating half.
But the main reason this trade deadline was a huge dud was Seattle. UFA's were hot, players with term were not. A lot of teams got burned by Vegas and they learned their lesson. Would I have liked to see Manson and Rackell go for decent returns? Of course! But, I don't want to just dump them for a fourth or fifth-round pick in a crappy draft. Besides, the kids are figuring it out. Terry looks great. Comtois, Lundestrom, and Jones are playing well. Steel is the only iffy one. Drysdale is already a top 4 defender and he's 18. Zegras is Zegras, he and the Gulls are tearing it up right now. Stolarz is the next backup now.
If Barstool Bob doesn't get anything accomplished at the draft this year, then there will be more room to criticize him. Looking forward to reading your article on the Sharks. Now THERE'S a nightmare scenario! $20 million in defenders and veterans up front and they go 1-4 against the Kings and the Ducks and a goalie who's barely played all year allows one goal in 2 games. OUCH!

I agree with most everything you said... I thought Florida would’ve been a landing spot and garnered a solid return.

Raks well I’m happy we kept him if the return was weak.

No, I believe the franchise would be better off with a younger GM and possibly a different coach. I would love to get Gerard Gallant behind the bench but believe it or not the younger kids actually like Eakins, Getzlaf likes him, too but that's kind of a moot point. What Eakins REALLY needs are some new assistant coaches. The PP and the PK have been dumpster fires for three years now and yet we have the same coaching staff. All of the fan base that hates everything about Murray can't get over the Shea Theodore screw up. As I said, I'm not going to cry when Murray is gone but not everything he does is bad.

The problem with Rakell is that he's been terrible for 2 years now. No GM worth a damn is going to give the Ducks a first( or even a second) for a player with declining offensive numbers. Agree on Miller but his numbers this year have been terrible, too. Who would want him?

This team has potential but not with Eakins on the bench and it’s time for new locker room leadership, the days of Getzlaf are over, he needs to move on. He’s been great for the Ducks but...

I think picks, even 2 to 4 are worth it this year. The scary picks are the early ones because the prospects are not playing. You will likely get steals in the mid to later rounds.

The question has to be, will Rakell and Manson be here when the team truly turns it around?

As someone said, I guess Murray gets a pass until the draft and see what he does.

Rakell is a tough one. He was a fantastic signing for quite a while, now he is no longer a bargain, but a guy being fairly paid. In this brutal trading climate, he might fetch a 2nd, but a 1st would require you to give up more. Similar to the Devs with Palmieri. Had to add Zajac. Maybe Rakell can land you a 1st if a decent player or 3rd rd pick is attached. Who knows.

Heard Getz almost became a golden knight.....
