Very Interesting look at things with a lot of truths. “Once the game is gone there’s nothing else” that’s a very true statement that goes beyond Hockey, it spreads to all youth sports. It’s a tough climb up the pyramid to pro sports.

I also agree on the locker room family, brotherhood being lost.

Thanks Tee. My best friend as a kid coaches in a travel league. These kids pay 24k just to be on the team. He had a dad commuting from Ohio (2+ hr drive each way) to give his kid a “shot”. The money, training, pressure is crazy. There are a lot of parents going broke doing this and it’s long odds to make it

Add in the pressure of social media and the internet in general. Constantly reading how bad you're playing.

Oh man, you’re absolutely right. It can’t be easy to shut it off. I didn’t fully consider the “fishbowl” life with social media commenting on every mistake you’ve ever made. Yikes.

Thanks Jeremy! We all need a bit of self examination and a very good friend to help with the accountability factor. Even the best of us still have a need to change some things in their lives.....it is called being human.
I think that the Wings have an advantage this coming season with having a great amount of cap space to add talent. Maybe Stevie is not about to add any bad contracts unless a proven prospect, 1st round picks, or a young everyday NHLer is the sweetener rather than lesser picks. This would be a faster track to being very competitive. The latest Yzer-interview seems to say this in that he is unwilling to take on short term vets, but wants young talent that will be with the team for many years.
