Carol Schram: Positive news from Jim Benning on Ian Clark, the Sedins & Vasily Podkolzin Offseason business is in full swing for the Vancouver Canucks. On Friday, general manager Jim Benning offered reason for optimism about the return of Ian Clark, the new front-office roles for Daniel and Henrik Sedin and the signing of 2019 first-round pick Vasily Podkolzin.

I see DimJim is crying because fans are protesting his ineptitude and it makes him look bad in front of his family

I used to think give JB, the benefit of the doubt, since he made some good draft picks and some decent trades. But this many years later with his bonehead signings and goofy demeanor, I think he's got to go.

His drafting of Virtanen, keeping him over McCann, not trading guys for better assets or at the time to maximize value, shows he's clueless.

Well said, Carol!

I, too, thought it was very positive!

Thanks Carol. There's a portion of so called fans blinded by hate that positives are only achieved through scorched earth. Why you only see them posting "reductio ad absurdum", where you take a comment to the absurd extreme and then use that absurd extreme as your proof of opinion.

Good job Carol!

I’m most excited about Clark coming back. Give him the 5 years!

He was asked directly about how this is affecting his family.

If you're going to criticize, at least understand the content first.

He wasn't using his family as some shield. He's not above criticism by any means, but the reactions to this specifically has only further solidified why the Canuck fans are as just as much an embarrassment as the management.

Well said, management is weak but not nearly as pathetic as a certain segment of the fanbase. Glad the Sedins are onboard as well as Clark.

Benning may be an idiot but he has loads of experience and can provide some guidance for the Sedins to learn the ropes.

He basically revealed they were going to take over after learning all aspects of the hockey ops and business.

Is 2 years of Sedin apprenticeship enough to take the team to the promised land?

They couldn't do it in 17 years as players, so 2 years of training under Benning will mean nothing.

This is such a massive reach. How do you get this from him saying "we plan to have an announcement in the next couple weeks regarding the Sedins "

Did you hear the rest? What was your understanding that they're not coming to do just desk jobs?

They sure felt bad not winning game 7 of SCF apologising to fans. Maybe they've been preparing for years and this is the next phase. If anything, they're smarter and harder working then any Canuck management team in memory.

Can you imagine posting about people making outrageous claims then making one 5 posts later?
