You notice you can’t find the big leather glove assortment anymore, all gloves are game ready.

They’re definitely way easier to flex and grip with right out of the bin. I remember the gloves with the longer cuffs that felt like they had particle board in the cuffs. I also remember the smell of some of that stuff! Good hockey families would have them laid out in the furnace room to dry!

I was surprised that guys get their stuff repalmed. Walter Gretzky was a big advocate in recycling/refurbishing equipment to get to underprivileged kids. I never saw any of the old horse hair pads, but heard stories of them weighing 10 lbs more after a game.

I’d love to get an old pair of the leather long cuffs that Gordie used to wear for the man cave. One day, maybe.

One more equipment story. I was a Resident Advisor in a dorm at Western Michigan back in the mid 90s. I had a complaint from someone about their roommate being “smelly”. I knew the guy, and he was as clean cut as they came. What I didn’t know is that he played in midnight hockey leagues. He would set his equipment bag next to the heater while everything was still soaking wet. He no longer had a roommate shortly after that.

Any chance the wings pursue Nolan Patrick? RFA that isn’t happy on Philly. Has the migraine issue and looked meh getting back into it last year. But has the potential to be a top two center.

I’ll see if I can shake any trees. The only “for sure” is that Yzerman has talked to every team not in the playoffs. I wouldn’t mind seeing a center come this way in a deal at all. The last I heard on Philly is that they’re looking at Jones in CBJ and Ristolainen in BUF.

The biggest benefit of this trade would be to just get Pettersson off the books. If it’s a mid-level prospect or a mid-round draft pick, it’s likely not going to matter a whole hell of a lot to the Penguins. Considering the Red Wings currently sit with 16 draft picks in the first four rounds of the next two NHL Drafts, they have some picks to pluck from.

I disagree, this is a cap dump for an over-priced player or Danny Deke 2.0....
If Stevie takes him, he better come with the Pens 2022 1st and Stevie could give the Pens the Oilers 2nd or a 3rd. But 4 yrs of a mediocre D may not bode well.

Edit: the top paragraph is a quote...I can't get it to go

Interesting that you brought up Alex Lifeson's Gibson. His Les Paul Axcess has always been my dream guitar. Growing up playing in the 80s hair metal era, I got used to playing with guitars with Floyd Rose tremolos on them. While I don't really use them for what they are intended for, they stay in tune so much better and after so many years of playing them, anchoring my right hand on anything other than a Floyd feels strange.

I sold most of my gear when our first child was born and we'd made the decision that my wife would stay home, so I needed extra cash. Then years of travel baseball & travel hockey for my oldest, followed by the even more expensive travel volleyball for my daughter, and I just haven't been able to justify spending that much on an axe. Someday though, I will own one, probably after I'm done paying for my 3rd child's college tuition, but some day!
