First!

As a fan that really doesn't see the draft prospects play, I really appreciate blogs like this. I know you go over the lists alphabetically, but if you were Stan, in what order would you rank them?

Agree, I don't get to see them either, used to at least see some college guys play, for some reason, just from reading all around, I've mentally closed in on Sillinger. Now if they don't draft him, I'll think we missed out, even though, as I said, I've seen none of them play.

Hawks Hockeybuzz board logic.............

PS. if the goalies are as good as people say, I wouldn't be totally upset about picking one. I would never use a top 5, probably not a top 10 on one however.

Guilty! Last year I was bummed they didn't take Dawson Mercer, even though like you I never see any of these guys play.

Appreciate the analysis Theo! I'm hoping one of the goalies goes top 10 and maybe someone falls they didn't expect to be there at 11.

Thank you, Theo.
I mirror the previous comments when thanking you for scouring the scouting reports and viewing available video on the young players.
We will soon see what the Blackhawks braintrust has determined.
Meanwhile, I still have big hope a couple of the players already with the team develop into top NHL players. But patience is tough. As the 49 years prior to 2010 indicate, a Stanley Cup is ALWAYS worth the wait!!

Ottawa just hired Pierre McGuire as their Senior VP of Player Development. Damn… just when we thought Arizona and Edmonton were the worst run teams in th league.

I feel bad for saying this, but I won't miss Pierre on tv. I have to admit to liking when he says where guys come from, but he is the champion master of the obvious. And I can't stand how much a front runner he usually is. He is a very nice man and I do wish him well. Just not where I have to be subjected to hearing his voice all the time.

I'm sure it was just a clerical error, but you missed Aatu Raty on your list.

No he wasn't missed. He was mentioned as someone to avoid in the 1st round.

I am not a Pierre fan, but I will give him credit for doing his homework on players. I'm not sure what Ottawa is looking for, but what in Pierre's background would lead anyone to believe that "Player Development" is something he is strong at? It has been 25+ years since he was behind the bench or in any type of scouting or development role. Heck, when he was fired as coach of the Whalers, Pat Verbeek said it was best thing that could happen to the organization and that neither his team or any of the opponents had any respect for McGuire.

His hiring by Ottawa is at least good in the sense that we wont have to listen to him anymore.

I would have posted earlier but, my daughter decided to start a fire in the microwave warming up her Popeye's fried chicken.

One Finnish defenseman for me please.

How did she do that? Leave it in too long or forget to remove the foil?

Left it in too long.

Scary part is typically I'd be at work then. I took the day off because I had contractors coming. I was within sight of it and minimized the damage.

Yes, a family meeting about basic, home fire safety will occur later today.

Not bad. Their spicy chicken is pretty tasty but those biscuits. I'm sure homemade is better but I could eat those by the dozen.

How about Fabian Lysell ? On small side, but read that he was one of the fastest players at the world junior championships. Excellent speed and hands, but what has caught my eye recently is that his playing style has been compared to Mitch Marner and another site compared him to Artemi Panarin. Originally, I was thinking of going bigger in the draft, but that can still be done in round two. Lysell could be the future Kane. He sounds like a sure fire top six forward .... something Hawks need in the system. Get him and focus on bigger forwards or guys who play heavy in later rounds

Scary stuff. Doesn’t take much for a fire to take hold. When we redid our kitchen a few years ago we bought a stove that slides into the counters and all the controls are at the front. It never occurred to us that young kids could turn on the burners and we certainly never thought our dog could turn it on when he counter surfed, which is what he did one night. We came down in the morning to find a burner was on.

You're right it doesn't take much.

She is old enough to know better and her reaction to it was not good. I've gone through basic extinguisher training through work and we have one in the kitchen. She didn't even move for it.

A lesson for all you young hockey players out there. Take the fried chicken out of the box and place it on a microwave safe plate. Also, a small extinguisher is like $20 on sale at the hardware store. Blow the dust off your wallet and get one and know how and when to use it.

Good call Edzo! And if you look hard enough I’m sure you can find an extinguisher for turt-teen turdy tree … cue the Foley and Edzo giggles.

no man pimped the canadian junior leagues like Pierre. I will miss not drinking during a game when "red deer ontario" came up on my Pierre bingo card.

When the Hawks were getting good he was slobbing all over Detroit, but he did make a very educated statement talking about a young hammer in 2008 and stating he was the best pure defender the Hawks had.
