Ben Shelley: Which players are likely to remain with the Ducks long term?

I seen many talk about Henrique and trade offers, but one thing just for the sake of a conversation, what if he can be moved straight up for a player with a bigger contract? For example Nashville is looking to shop Johansen, would that work for both sides? Nashville gets a player that has less term and lower cap hit and with a flat cap that does help along with Pekka retiring today. As for the Ducks, do they feel that Johansen is done at 28? With Gretzlaf coming off the books they can fit Ryan’s contract and if Gretslaf wants to stay with the Ducks he is taking a pay cut anyway. I know it’s highly unlikely but it’s something to think about rather then the usual for scraps and retaining salary convos.

Trade Henrique (retain $1M) and a 2nd and a 3rd to the Wings for Neilsen....

Don't understand why they potentially would keep lundestrom long term, hes never scored more than 6 goals at any level in a season. There are others that can do what he does Groulx for example. I would be much more willing to give steel more of a chance, tell him to really focus on his offense and let's see what he can do. I'd hate for this to be another palmieri situation where we never gave him much of a chance on one of the top 2 lines and let him go, and he goes and shows he can be a goal scorer.

Depends if you think Johansen is done at 28 I personally think he needs a fresh start elsewhere.
As for that offer if that’s the best the Ducks can get they are better off holding on to him and seeing what happens later on.
Heck the kings got Arvedson for a 2nd and 3rd alone.

Isac is a keeper for sure. He's young, his D game is already rock solid and even in a disaster of a yr he showed enough offensive upside to warrant bigger minutes. Add that he is already a better C than Steel and there you go.

Steel can be jettisoned to wherever whenever.

I am also coming around to this concept more and more every day. Gibby will be 30 by the time we are competitive and by that time Dostal should be ready for the big show.

I say we listen to trade offers as Carolina would be a great trade partner. Toronto is also in need of a starter and has some trade history with the Ducks.

I'm a firm believer now is the time to capitalize on trading Gibson. He'll bring in a solid haul and there are multiple teams that are an elite goaltender away from being a true Stanley cup contender. Carolina comes to mind. I wonder if they would be willing to part ways with Martin Necas to acquire Gibson. I feel like Necas and a second and a mid tier prospect for Gibson and Henrique (with salary retained) to fill the hole to help them win now is a solid trade for both teams.

I like that trade idea. Even more I’d like to push for Pesce as a piece and perhaps expand the trade to include Raks and picks.
