Its very cute you think needledyck will be as good behind detroit as was behind a top4 team in the NHL. Sieder, by a landslide. |

Didn't Nedeljkovic finish 3rd in Calder voting and if so how can he be able to be up for it again?
Either way i think Seider has a better chance. Long shot might be Berggren or Raymond if they can play their way onto the team to start the season. |

Ned does not have enough NHL games to disqualify him from rookie status. |

I’m guessing you didn’t read it. That was my biggest point against the goalie. That he will face much higher danger chances against an inferior defense. |

Yeah, just one of those oddities. He qualifies as a rookie still |

Seems odd that he could have potentially won the Calder and then be able to win another the next season. |

For sure. I was surprised. The news that he would be considered a rookie again this year came out a few days ago. I think Kevin Allen did a write up on it |

Good for him to get a 2nd chance at it. He will have to beat out Greiss for the starting job for to have a chance. Seider should be able to earn good minutes as the season goes on which should give him the edge over Ned. |

Nedeljkovic was legitimately great for Carolina last year, but also: be at least a little skeptical when a 25-year-old goaltender who hadn't really been thought of as more than backup goes on an unexpected tear. See also: Jordan Binnington, Andrew Hammond.
Obviously Ned is not a .932 true talent goalie, because that would basically mean he's the next Hasek and he clearly isn't. He's going to regress. The question is how much.
Hopefully he settles into being at least a competent starter. |

Mo Sides, by a landslide for Wing ROY. He's got a chip on his shoulder. Will take him a minute to get to full speed, I think. Then....yeah, gonna be very strong (comparatively speaking......he'll be "Wing's Strong, meaning a powerhouse for the Wings, probably not the NHL...make sense??). The Wing's D will be better this year, growing in quality each year. I think Mo's going to have a good haul of assists; 25+, maybe tickle the twine 15+. Maybe.
Ned will regress. He's not going to have the calibre of players in front of him that he had with The Canes. He's really going to have to polish his game and work on knocking down a ton of chances. Will be interesting to see the number of shots faced w/DET v shots faced w/CAR.....methinks there will be a relatively large differential. Greiss will start, Ned will struggle to adjust. Hope he does will because there's really no one in GR to bring up behind him, if he needs to get some reps in. |

What's cute is how you fully put on display your incompetence and ignorance..... maybe read before replying and making a ridiculous comment.... |

I agree that Seider is going to be the real deal. Yes, if people only read things the way they were written, haha

He could also be a Martin Jones of the early years. Jones was excellent for a few years but the crappy team in front of him cost him his mojo. Jones took a lot of heat and some was on him but the team let him down as well. I think Ned will be fine, great kid and earned his dues. |

yep. Canes are betting that he's closer to his pretty mediocre at best AHL numbers than he is to his world-beater NHL numbers.
I like the guy and wish him luck, but Detroit was in a much better position to roll the dice with him than Carolina is.

I watched him last year as I'm also a 'Canes fan. He was really good. But, I wonder if he's the Mark Fidrych of hockey. For those who don't recall "The Bird"; great rookie season, blew everyone away; 2.30-something ERA, 19-9, AL Rookie of the Year. Next season was a disaster for him, never lived up to his rookie campaign, never was a threat on the mound after his 1st season. Died in 2009.
Now, I PRAY Ned stays with us, and HOPE that he continues to develop and grow, that his numbers with us this season are comparable to a strong 2d year goalie. His potential is awesome, some of his saves boggled the mind. Fingers crossed.

The Bird is really a sad story. Was on the cover of SI with Big Bird, ROY, all of the entrapments of super-stardom. Lost him WAY too soon, and so very sadly. He remained a pillar in his hometown, working with kids, etc... He tried being a colour commentor on MLB with Al Michaels...just didn't pan out. Good kid, gone WAY too soon.
