Ben Shelley: Sharks waive Ivan Chekhovich for purpose of contract termination

Well I voted yes but I really didn't know very much about him. But I know the Sharks will probably move any guys in less than a year left by the trade deadline so he might have been playing regular come March.

With the signing of Jasper Weatherby, the Sharks were over the limit of players they could have signed to contracts by1 and this is the response. I wish Ivan well and good luck in the KHL and hope to see him back in the NHL later in his career. Some kids just develop slower than others but Ivan has talent.

Oh wow I didn't realize they were at the 50 limit. They might want to start drafting in some more Canadian hockey League players so they can take advantage of exempt status
