Hated the NHL players being in the Olympics for years, it was cool in 1998 & 2002, after that I've always just wished they kept it for the amateurs and not disrupt the NHL Season.

The thrill was gone after the first few, really after 98 when the US Hockey guys totally embarrassed themselves with their behavior it was a bad sign, 2002 was fun with the US vs Canada Finals as was 2010 but even that I hated they stopped the season for nearly a month and crammed games all over the rest of the schedule. Destroyed the pace of the season but besides that I just am old school and think it should be the Amateurs. I know Miracle on Ice was a once in a lifetime moment but let the kids play

I agree with this 100%. We already know pro athletes are good at the sport they play, I'd like to see what the amateurs can do. Thats where we first got to see Leetch.

Yep agreed again. Let the amateurs play. Honestly would rather watch these guys duke it out. Interested to see what kind of teams would get assembled without NHL talent. Also, the grind of the season is tough enough on these players plus the risk of injury to me is a big factor. I get the players want to play in the games for their respected country’s but that to me doesn’t mean a whole helluva lot. You’re getting paid millions to play in the NHL that should be the focus imo.

Im hoping no Islanders make any of the Olympic team rosters (insert joke here haha).

These guys are getting paid to play 82 games in the NHL + playoffs. Leave the olympics to the amateurs.

I don't think USA would have a problem due to a ton of talent at collegiate level, but every other country's developmental leagues are pro. Unless Major Jr. Is considered amateur . Not to mention Russia players turn pro at 12 yrs old. Lol

I think you limit it to players from country's top leagues... NHL/khl/swedish league/etc. Players playing minor pro are acceptable

Ehh. Who wants to watch minor league Pros?

Amateurs or Top Pros.
.otherwise it's like the World Championships....which had like 5 viewers

Yeah, I was one of those.
And, you are 100% correct. There would not be much buzz around that tourney.

I get that the Olympics are supposed to be amateur. But, I have trouble getting upset about a 10 day All-Star event where they actually try their hardest!!

Oh I like seeing best players from around the world as well. Whether it's pro or amateur doesn't matter to me, as long as it's the best

For me it's not the amateur stance as much as I honestly don't even care about the Olympics at all. Just doesn't get my interest anymore so at the cost of losing the NHL Season (especially in a time now where who knows WTF is gonna happen from week to week with possible other shutdowns of play) for nearly a month it's just not worth it.

I also am always opposed to NHL players in the Olympics, mainly because of the risk of injury. But after the last 2 crazy seasons, we finally have a "planned" normal season about to start, and now we will have a 3 week hiatus, and who knows what will happen

How do you know Drury didn't try? Maybe the Rangers were interested in him, but not at that price...

I said he might be on the long list. Don't view as having any shot at the roster
