Red Wings Steve Yzerman says Tyler Bertuzzi has declined to be vaccinated for COVID-19. Will be at camp, following guidelines, but anticipation is he will not travel to games in Canada. |

If that is true, I expect him to be gone by the trade deadline.
I also expect him to be suspended on every Canadian road trip. Nice chunk of change thrown out. |

Why was the video of Yzerman press conference just taken down? |

I normally do my absolute best to stay out of politics in the comments section, since that's not why I come here and I'm also fairly certain I would have some very strong disagreements with a few of the other regulars. But I'll make an exception in this case.
Unvaccinated players can't cross the border, forfeit pay for days they miss due to being unable to travel, and can't go anywhere except the arena, practice facility, and their own hotel room when on any road trip. (No hotel bars, no teammates' rooms, etc.)
Basically: you're screwing your teammates and screwing yourself because you're unwilling to take a free, safe, scientifically vetted and easily obtained preventative measure that could save your life and/or the lives of those around you.
Extremely disappointing. |

Really disappointing that Bertuzzi won't get the vaccine. His decision yes but it's also a decision that affects his teammates and the team. So he can't go into Canada meaning he misses what 15 gamesish? Not counting say the Wings miraculously made the playoffs and had to play Otttawa Toronto or Montreal. Not likely obviously but that would stink if that happened. |

Bertuzzi may forfeit up tp $191,000 for the 9 games he’ll miss.
I guess it’s not the money. |

NHL is not game checks, it is days missed. It will be around $400k for the time the Wings are estimated to spend in Canada. |

Have to think this causes some kind of divide in the locker room. Wonder how long until it leaks out or someone throws a jab at him during an interview. |

I'd have to think Yzerman takes full advantage of it as well. |

Bertuzzis decision would be big news if we were a contender. But we're not. So it's meaningless. Also, his decision disminishes his trade value so I suspect Yzerman hangs on until it improves. |

Yeah, Sure, "Safe and Effective"!
New VAERS numbers are out.
701,559 Adverse Events
60,741 Hospitalizations
80,393 Urgent Care
6,637 Heart Attacks
5,765 Myocarditis
1,862 Miscarriages
19,210 Disabled
14,925 Deaths
Keep in mind: Only about 10% of vaccine adverse reactions/deaths are actually reported.
Wait, there is more....

Regarding VAERS:
- HHS is very upfront about saying that a VAERS report does not necessarily imply that the vaccine caused the adverse event, only that the event occurred after the vaccination.
- Anyone can report an event. Not just medical professionals.
So if you see something like "2,000 miscarriages" in VAERS, that doesn't necessarily mean there's a red flag. About a quarter of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, so we would expect many thousands of women to have them after getting vaccinated. That doesn't mean the vaccine had anything to do with them. Vaccines protect you from COVID, not miscarriage.
Likewise, lots of Americans suffer from heart problems, disability, etc. (or death) that has nothing to do with COVID. Many tend to be older, which is a more heavily vaccinated population, which further skews the raw data toward an (incorrect) conclusion that the vaccine is unsafe.
There will always be some dissenting opinions, but the vast majority of experts continue to support the position that vaccines do far more good than harm. The few sources that suggest otherwise seem to have a clear agenda.
You can trust who will. |
