I do not know much if anything about him. Losing juho isnt terrible as you said with all the forwards and losing juulsen is nothing. So could be worth the shot |

Seeing a lot of people say it’s a good deal for both teams, but Cats could have the edge in it.
Looks like he’s around 6’2” and 188 lbs. Curious what kind of style he plays. Seeing some mixed things on that front. Some say he’s like a Forsling but the compete doesn’t seem to be there (from VAN fans).
Who knows, but curious to see ho he looks. |

Lammikko probably doesn’t clear waivers, and they exchange highly drafted Dmen prospects who have been derailed by injuries. |

It will be interesting to see if he gets bit by the Florida Rejuvenating bug when he gets here. Haha. |

He was taken 5th overall in 2016 I think. Good hockey sense and skill but was injury plagued and couldn’t quite crack the lineup beyond being a 6th/7th guy. If it works out he could be a steal for you guys... all the best of luck with him. |

You bet. How are Bobrovsky and Reinhart looking so far this preseason? I went in on them in my fantasy pool. Hoping that Reinhart and Huburdeau work some magic together. |

Reinhart is fitting in nicely and I think Bob will be good. He looked pretty solid to me yesterday. Maybe a flub here and there, but he seems to be getting his confidence up and I thought his position was good. |

Ziti still disappoints me when it comes to the backend moves |

I hope the Panthers aren't getting soft again. Tampa Bay got Corey Perry and Zach Bogosian added to their goon squad. One good hit from one of them and Juolevi will be on the IR list. |

I don't know a ton about him but think Nolan Patrick. So much potential that gets derailed by an injury almost every year |

Always a shame seeing those guys with a lot of potential struggle to reach it because of injury. |

Not a lot of sandpaper on the Cats roster but Hornqvist can be pretty feisty. And though older, Thornton doesn’t take a lot of crap either. |

I don't quite know how to say this... but that Cat you picked up from the Flames is pretty nasty piece of work.

Dude. Good call. Completely forgot to mention Lomberg |

OJ has enough skill that he should be able to become a decent 5/6/7 NHL d-man. Commitment to the game has been an issue and not sure about his willingness to put in the work to stick in the NHL. Good on the PK. Did not mix with Van head coach so maybe someone can get through to him. |

Reinhart is playing on Barkov’s line, with Verhaeghe on the left.

Seems like a pretty decent trade for both teams from the slight bit I've read about the FLA players.
As for OJ, a lot has been heaped on him due to his draft position. He's had some injuries that have limited his growth and actual time spent playing. The biggest cause for concern with his injuries is that it has seemingly limited his mobility. He doesn't turn well, and gets beat to the outside a lot, which isn't great. He has a good first pass and defends fine enough in the zone, especially on the PK since there isn't a ton of movement involved. He could still be a good depth guy if he's able to get into a groove and get over some of those limitations. TG wasn't always in his corner, so maybe Q will help there.
One other thing to note, is that he doesn't seem to have the mental makeup/commitment needed to play at the NHL level. There were always rumors about his video game use, and this offseason when he wasn't rehabbing anything and there was a roster spot on the line for him, he came to camp not in top shape and lost the job in the first couple days. There are a few articles written about him starfishing on the ice after a bag skate. Hopefully he puts it together, he's still young-ish |

Yeah, but with zero risk attached. Maybe he will do better w/o 5th OA expectations hanging over him. Perhaps he “gets it” now and will put in the necessary work to reach his potential. He’s gonna have guys like Barky and Hornqvist around him now, maybe they set an example for him. Who knows? Neither of the guys traded away had a future in FL, anyway. If he doesn’t workout they simply move on.
Defense is improved solely by who Zito moved out. The forwards will have to be better this year with support in their Dzone, and by cutting down on the odd-man rushes given up with bad turnovers at either blue line. |

Thanks for the detailed insight, NewYorkNuck. The more I’m reading, the more the common thread seems to be potential compete/drive issues. I also saw the gassed bag skate picture. Haha.
Zito hasn’t really misstepped yet, so I’m thinking he and the coaching staff see something there they can adjust/fix.
We’ll see though. Looking forward to how it unfolds. |
