The Seattle Kraken have placed defenseman Dennis Cholowski on waivers, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. The Kraken got good news on several players that were in the COVID protocol just ahead of their game last night, meaning Cholowski–who started the year on the injured/non-roster list–isn’t needed right away, and will likely be assigned to the minor leagues should he clear.
Frustrating. I wanted him to do well in Seattle..... |

Seattle is pretty well stocked with dependable NHL defensemen. It was always going to be a significant uphill climb for Cholowski to make the team. |

Completely agree with that. I'd just like to see him live up to his expectations.....

How is Simon Edvinsson progressing? Outside of a scoresheet I haven't seen anything. |

But does he look like he belongs? Obviously a Mo type season would be insane but still. Also, I wonder if Stevie has any influence over in Sweden or if it is just coincidence that the last few very high picks are coming from there and playing top minutes on good teams. |

Knowing that many GMs are micro-managers, I'd say he's got his sleeves rolled up and is actively engaged in the assessment, development, and analysis of the kids in Europe. We've some excellent scouts over there, as well as guys like Fischer, Kronwall, Lindstrom, et. al., working their collective butts off to make sure these kids are getting what the big club wants in order to make them competitive. Again, great to see the progress.
Once of the things I've noticed about Detroit is the drive to penetrate the European market. Not saying that we've lead the way, but we've seemed to have had a plethora of talent from emerging markets (Mo Sides form Germany, etc...). So it's a good feeling to see what the stats are for these kids and to know that the club is working really hard overseas to incubate the talent there, and tap those unknown markets......

He’s extremely raw. There’s just as good a chance he become a Jack Johnson as there is he becomes a legit top pair guy. And yeah Eklund was my pick too. |

I'm not about throwing the baby out with the bath water. He has/had talent that needed to be refined, but his attitude took a dive into the crapper. Why? was it because of a lack of interest from the coaching staff, was it because he's just a punk, or was it because he felt like he'd been abandoned? We don't know. There was/is talent. And I like seeing people with talent given a chance to develop and prosper..IF they chose to do so. Just like Svech; talented, needed a fresh start to see if it was him or the system. Same with Cholo. I like seeing DET kids do well wherever they go, I guess.

That could be true about any player. It all hinges on the effort he put forth to inculcate those things the coaching staff says the player needs to work on in order to excel. Eklund would've been a great choice, for sure!

Not at all. Guys that already have the “hockey IQ” part are not considered raw. |

He's playing first pairing on a first place team in the SHL at 18 years of age. I don't believe a description of "raw" is the best used adjective in such a case. |

Seider was considered raw in his report as well. After the first couple picks, and even then sometimes, most players have raw in their scouting report. It is like that in every sport. You're talking about kids, some can't even do a pullup. |
