I’m not down on Frost just yet but thank god Chuck signed Brassard so far in this small sample. Frost simply wasn’t ready nor did he earn it. Brassard has shown solid chemistry with Atkinson and Farabee too. |

Not the biggest fan of the artist, but I liked the Philly Joel sign for Farabee. That line is off to a good start.
Well, okay, Miami 2017 is decent. |

Some on here are saying this was a nothing win against a poor team. Well, I have watched a few Kraken games this year, including a good road win against the Predators. They are not a team you can take lightly. After the 7 minute mark in the 1st, the Flyers really played a good game, from the goalie out. PK was 4-4, PP had some chances, and the top forwards were shooting first which is a relief to see. The only line that is not showing a lot of offense is the Laughts-JVR-Lindblom line, though they are checking well. The Flyers will have to turn the volume to 11 if they want to beat Boston on Wednesday, but this is a nice team win! |

Only caught the 2nd and 3rd periods but it looked like the game was a wrap beforehand. Grubauer looked like trash especially after that weakas$ Braun goal (gotta love a 2on 1 defensemen odd man rush).
Hopefully they carry this effort over for Boston.

Far too early to judge the Brassard signing. He was poor against Vancouver. Very good last night. We'll see how he fares against Boston and further into the season.

Doesn't matter what they say. There's a good chance last year's Flyers may have lost this game |

You can't take any team in the NHL lightly. It's a confidence builder especially for Carter Hart. They need to build on that and not have lulls in games like the 2nd period in Vancouver. The difference between expansion teams and quality teams is that the latter have more ability to push back. Vancouver pushed back in the 2nd period of the previous game and the Flyers didn't handle it well. The comeback in the 3rd period and last nights games are building blocks. |

Well considering his $825K cap hit, chances are its a pretty good signing. But we can wait until further in the season

Quote didn’t work but this was regarding MJL on Bassard signing
Not sure I agree with you on his play last game. Watched the whole game and Bassard was solid. As he was this game. That line has been humming through two games. That is all we have to judge on all these players.
At this point. Signing Bassard for .825 looks to be a great deal. That’s all I have to go on. Pre season looks to have carried over to his play during the regular season and reminds me of the guy who gave the Flyers fits during the bubble. As of now he doesn’t appear to be washed up. |

Anything positive they get from Brassard is gravy. He is on a cheap contract that you can buried if need be. As long as the coach doesn't overplay him and uses him properly (which will be debatable as the season goes on) these are the type of deals you need to make every off season. Whether it is at forward or defense a cheap vet who can help.
MJL just doesn't like Brassard as he said he was washed up.

he's been pretty critical of all of fletchers moves. He didn't even like the Ellis trade lol |

Im not sure you can break up that line when Hayes returns if it keeps playing solid hockey. Plus, it would probably be good to ease Hayes in with 3rd line deployment match ups.

Their line and Brassard in particular were outshot and out chanced in the Vancouver game. Brassard was invisible offensively. The line as a whole was not humming in the Vancovuer game. They scored a goal and weren't scored against so if you want to say that's the bottom line, I won't disagree. However the line as a whole in the Vancouver game was out chanced and outshot as well as fared poorly in shot attempts. They were good last night. |

Completely agree. I am not wanting them to take stupid penalties or dress a goon who can't play every night, but yes, stand up for one another.. build those bonds etc.
Good to see and BTW, most of the good teams you see them do this as well. |

I'm really hoping that what we saw last night is the new norm and we have closer to the right mix of passers and shooters at forward now. |

Well they did trade "youth" to address a huge need....Why did Nashville trade Ellis anyway.
Back to Brassard. He may be fine for a 10 game stint playing up in the lineup. Eventually it will be an issue that needs to be addressed. I do no think he is even a short term ( this season) answer as the 2nd line center.

Most importantly, hart looked great. I want to see him build on this against stronger opponents. Baby steps.

Brassard was like the rest of the team in game one. Played very well in the first period but seemed to lose focus in the second period. I don’t think you can or should single him out for a poor game. Not what I saw. The line scored more then they were scored against. Part of the issue for Brassard in the last couple of years was who he was playing with. Sometimes guys can’t find chemistry and it appears they are indeed washed up….coaches always say 90% of the game is between the ears.
The good news is he seems to have chemistry with Atkinson (probably part of why they signed him) and a young stud like Farabee is pretty easy to play with. Can this continue ? I’m sure he’ll have some ups and downs, but for now he’s proving he belongs….Had a great camp and has had a very solid start to the season. |

They need Risto back to help lessen the load. Having Ellis play 25+ minutes and Iavn 27+ is not ideal. Flip side is AV has done well managing Yandle's minutes in the 2 games. |
