Update - sounds like Raymond is ok. He went through the protocol. Was feeling pretty bad after the hit, but interviewed after the game. I really do like this kid. I thought Seider had some really good plays tonight as well |

Trying hard not to get too excited here, but man it's been a thrilling open to the season so far with Raymond and Seider. I know, it's a LONG season ahead and it's been 3 games, but tonight they looked great, they doubled up the Jackets on shots, Greiss was fantastic. There's a buzz so far that hadn't been there for a few seasons, and it feels like there have been a lot more legitimate scoring chances. They could have had 5-6 easy tonight, Korpisalo played very well despite the score, two were EN, and he came up big on a few stops.
Someone secure my feet to the ground, because man, i've been ready for this team to start going in a positive direction again for years now. We'll see what the coming games bring, some tough matchups incoming.
Looking forward to the next game for sure. |

Man, just enjoy it right now. Yeah, tough times will happen. We’ve had plenty of it. There’s nothing wrong with soaking this in and having a little happiness come your way. Yzerman’s first two first rounder were biting on the ice and made an impact. The crowds have been awesome. People are giving high fives to total strangers at the games again. What an exciting start |

How is it that last year there was a lot of "bingo ball" shuffeling of lines and this year there isn't? Could it be a new assistant coach running the decisions or just a lot of great draft picks actually playing instead of developing for yrs. in GR? |

Seider is a (frank)ing tank. Very nice little decade for German hockey. |

A complete game... nice. Moritz continues to impress and congratulations to Raymond on the first of many. I would say, Jeremy, that I'd not sit Smith against Calgary... Firstly the Wings will have Tkachuk being Tkachuk, not to mention others and the Flames haven't had the start to the season they'd like.... they will bring it....Id prefer Smith be a part of whatever occurs against Calgary... |

The NHL really wants the Hockeytown trademark. They get a half decade of moving down in every draft during their rebuild, but that wasn't enough. Now refs are allowing opponents to board and check from behind all they want. I suspect it'll have the opposite effect they think it will. If the players think everyone is against them, it brings the team much closer together. They have something to play for and something to play against. Larkin alluded to it during his interview. They can't expect the league to enforce it's own rules, they are going to have to toughen up as a team. The solution isn't to bring in fighters, nor is it to get retribution because only the Wings will get suspensions. They have to do it on the scoreboard. |

Part of that was injury. Fabbri, Zadina and Ryan all went down with COVID or injury and were gone for a huge chunk. Raymond stepped into Vrana’s spot and (with the exception of the one game Larkin missed) those 2 top lines are sticking together. It’s definitely nice to have some consistency. Hopefully everyone can stay healthy |

Jeremy Laura: Redwings play best of the season, come out with win over Blue Jackets - Jeremy Laura
Good to see the boys start on time and play hard for most of the 60 minutes. They also dominated play for extended periods, something we have not seen for quite a while. They did not play as passively as they have in the first couple games. It’s only three games but I think these three games have been more fun to watch than all of the games from the last two years. |

Gotta disagree on changing their play. Their fiestiness is part of their drive that has them sitting at 2-0-1. Keep the grit. Keep standing up for yourselves, people will be forced to take note and refs will start to make thw calls that will end the wings standing up for themselves as well as other teams backing off cept for the tkachuk types. Cant play soft and cant be soft. DETROIT VS EVERYBODY! |

I don’t want to change all of it, but in all honesty Greiss stood on his head vs Vancouver. I want the standing up and grit, but stop riding the refs and chill on some of the unnecessary post whistle stuff. Bertuzzi went after Roslovic after a hit that injured Raymond. That I understand. Smith was in a scuffle almost every time he was on the ice, and most didn’t really serve any purpose. Find the balance, for sure. This team cares about each other in a way that’s been missing for a while. Just have to find a way to keep the positive side of that without ending up in the box quite so much. |

Last night was a solid effort, for sure. That being said, if Greiss wasn't an inter-planetary being, we'd have been sunk. Incredible effort.
Still some rust to knock off, though. FOW looked really good. Cycling on the PP was strong, PK was much improved. The 1st 2 periods were a slug-fest, and awesome to watch.
Still concerned about the level of physicality being wages against the Wings. Saw on Sunday that Benn had done the same thing he did against Larkin and didn't get a call against him. A new standard has been set by DOPS. The refs need to really tighten this crap down, someone will be seriously hurt if this isn't controlled. But...we know that's just wishful thinking. It's just not going to happen until someone is crippled.
Wholly agree that Smith probably needs to be given a break, he seemed to have been targeted last night in the hopes he'd flip his lid and react in haste....and he almost did a couple of times. Raymond's hit looked bad, worse than what it was, but still bad. This is getting bad. The NHLPA needs to say something because, ya know......players make them money and all. Something has to give......but I repeat myself.
Well-played, loved seeing Namestnikov get his time at the end, classy act to send the shot to Erne. Nice to see them sharing the glory. |
