As our good friend Alex said last night on another thread, we saw the real CBJ last night. Very good goalies, underwhelming defense, and an offense that can't score.
Unlike the people who live and die by 'fancy stats' they beat Arizona soundly in Game 1. Columbus scored at will, and hung back to coast to a win against an awful team that didn't want to be there.
In game two they went nose-to-nose with a team like them, only Seattle was on the road and had a better defense. In 3 on 3 they caught Seattle with an exhausted player on a line change and won the resulting 3 on 2.
Last night, except for the top line at times the other three lines were ineffective at puck possession, and the defense gave up chance after chance and were overwhelmed. It was a team loss.
This is the season ahead, get crushed by good teams, hang in against the bottom feeders but usually lose, and maybe win some games. |
