LOL - the revamped team lost to the WB Pens -- I guess they are still waking up from their long bus trip out west. Good thing that Carter Hart showed up, otherwise they could have lost by 11.

4th line penned in, D in shambles, way to go cf, you improved the team!

There is something still very wrong with this team. I mean, something seriously fundamentally wrong. This is starting to look just like last year. Just getting outworked game after game. Their record looks okay for now, but they are about ready to head into the gauntlet of a brutal schedule and if they don't pick up their play I'm afraid things are about to get ugly. Their defensive zone coverage continues to be an absolute joke. When(if) Ellis comes back they are seriously going to have to consider breaking up that second defensive unit. Sanheim and Risto are an accident ready to happen every time they are on the ice. They both look like they are in serious need of a STEADY defense partner cause they are anything but steady. Oh my!!

Another boring game where the flyers just seem to have no confidence or plan on offense, especially the power play.
Maybe Ellis coming back will help the transition game? I love the move Atkinson made in overtime. I wish there was a little more offensive drive and confidence in our other players.
On the plus side, I feel like it's an honor to watch Giroux play. Haven't felt that for a while. Though I'm not sold on his captain skills, what an amazing skill level and longevity and talent. I mean, wow, just wow.

The NHL would have said not enough conclusive evidence to call that a goal if that was the Flyers on Letang's wrap around.

Coaching needs to smarten this team up. Lines need to be changed. And enough of the slow starts.

I have been a G defender. But maybe I've been wrong and he isn't captain material. I have no explanation for the slow starts year after year. But it cant happen. I get maybe one out of 8-10 games, but this is 3 out of 4 games we have slow starts. It baffles me.

Going into the 3rd scoreless against a winless Coyotes team at home and now last night's performance, yeah I expect a change or two Saturday.

Also wouldn't surprise me if they keep playing like this, they don't resign G. Sure his stats are good, but a lot of $8M players would have good stats. We need more than stats, strong starts would help

There is maybe one " soft" team left on the schedule this month ( Devils)..and that is no gimme.
The slow starts, lack of production from lines 2-3, no Ellis, and poor inconsistent play of Sanheim/Risto play is recipe for disaster this month.
Don't know how they change it. Hopefully Hayes is back against the Leafs, and Allison is back by end of month as well. I was looking forward to seeing him play this year as he looked good in his short stint last year.

Morning everyone.

So many similarities to last years team. RR in the 3 on 3 is rather interesting. AV saying he liked the way they played. Good stuff.

The coaching staff needs to shown the door. Hopefully they are in last place or next last by the end of the moth and the GM pulls the plug. This staff is horrible.

As far as the lines, last year he changed them every fn minute. Now he does nothing.

I’ve seen enough to come to following conclusions:

1. This team is just as bad/inconsistent as last year. The only difference is that this years squad is getting better play from the top line and much better goaltending. AV is a fraud and the sooner and his pet monkey Michel are gone, the better.

2. Risto has the hockey sense of a turnip. Fletcher got fleeced in that deal and his job should also be in jeopardy. Hopefully he doesn’t compound the problem by re-signing him.

3. Brassard is not a 2C by any stretch of the imagination and he’s bringing his whole line down. Time to sink or swim with Frost, at least until Hayes returns.

4. It’s not all negative though, Hart looks to be back in form and that might well be the most important thing so far this season. I also think that Provorov has played pretty well and Braun has held his own even with them asking to do too much with Ellis out.

5. This team will either just miss the playoffs or get bounced in the first round. Wash, rinse, repeat, it’s really getting old.

I will say that anyone who expected us to roll into pitt and beat them 8 0 was fooling themselves. Even without the big names, pitt is always going to give a strong effort vs us. Hart is still playing very well and that’s huge. They had their chances and Jarry played well.

I’ll say it again, there are no gimmes in this league.

I don’t see nj as being a soft team. We don’t show up and it’s a loss. Plain and simple. Getting our 2 d and 2c back should help.

The Pens were in last place at puck drop. We should be lucky not to be along side them with our effort. Doesn’t seem like the Flyers want to pay the price physically to win a game. Too much on the perimeter. Hart made plenty of saves in tight to keep us in it. I don’t think Jarry was tested that way.

Reading the comments you'd think the team is 2-5-2 and not 5-2-2. I agree they haven't played great as a team thus far, but the results have been pretty good. When they get Hayes and Ellis back that will lengthen the lineup.

The good news is Hart looks like a different player. Outside of one game, he's been great.

Season is early, they can still improve and hopefully get back to the team they were in 2019-2020.

1. correct. Though they goaltending was strong to start the year last season.

2. Hopefully they are on the outside looking in come the deadline and they cut their losses.

3. Nor brassards fault. He is being put in a position to fail. He even said himself he is more of a winger these days.

4. eventfully Braun will slow down as he is being asked to do too much. A good trade deadline candidate if the GM was smart.

5. They will miss. They are an average team with bad coaching.

Hopefully Captain comfortable decides he wants to be traded. He would likely be the best fwd available. He could absolutely be a teams missing piece for a cup run. He would get a nice haul with 50% retention.

Would love to know what Sanheims value is across the league. Aint gonna happen here. Add this staff doesnt help matters when it comes to him.

results were good to start last year as well. Anyone watching the games can see this team consistently gets outplayed, pretty much out everything.

Last two points are the most important aspects to me. Hart has played very well. Night and day. It’s going to take about 20 games to see what we have and that’s if they get all their players back.
That haven’t been great but I didn’t want them to be brief by xmas with a record like the habs. You can’t make the playoffs in October but you can lose them. We’re right in the mix and haven’t really played that well yet.

While I don't view AV as a fraud, I wonder when he is going to make the changes that need to be made. Maybe he just wants some continuity and wants to keep it together until Hayes gets back. Can they really think that Hayes will jump right in and boost that 2nd line? He's going to need some time. When and if Hayes gets up to speed, Brassard can center the 4th line. The 2nd defense pairing needs to be broken up. Last night Sanheim flat out stunk and Ristolainen is the epitome of mediocrity and that's when he's at his best. When Ellis gets back, play Braun with Sanheim and Ristolainen with Yandle.

If they continue to play this way overall even with the quality goaltending they're getting. Looking at this months schedule, they could be toast by the end of the month.

I don’t really blame any of the players. They are what they are and everyone seems to be giving full effort. I blame the GM for acquiring the wrong players (Risto & Nate especially) and I blame the coaches even more for misusing them.
