Hopefully the edition of Ellis can improve their rudderless PP! I noticed when he played the first few games he seemed very good at getting the puck through traffic from the point and creating down low scoring chances. This is badly needed at this point cause their PP has been abysmal as of late.

Hart was amazing last night and there were stretches where the team played well, but there are still some big red flags.

1. The pp is a disaster right now and a different voice is needed. It’s time for Therrien to be replaced.

2. They badly need more skill up the middle and expecting Hayes to jump right in and be a good 2C is not going to end well. It’s time to give Frost a look. Laughton can only do so much and would be better on the wing.

3. Yandle, when not on the pp, is virtually useless. The quicker they can get York or Zamula up to replace him, the better.

4. Braun has held his own but they are asking too much of him. Ellis needs to get well asap.

5. Finally, AV needs to do a better job of making adjustments and with his matchups. Relying on the goaltender to stand on his head every night until you figure things out is not a long term recipe for success

Probably a mentally as well as physically game last night. I hope they can keep their heads in the game tonight. Regardless of their record of late, you can't take the Stars lightly

Since they are already into LTIR, how are they going to activate Hayes without waiving 2 or 3 players?

Simply either Aube-Kubel gets claimed or sent down and they also have the option of placing Morin on LTIR retroactively.

I assume we won't see of the 4 forward option they tried last night. But I agree. PP must get going.

Waiving NAK will get them cap compliant. They can also send down Seeler for a couple days as long as they are sure Ellis is a go.

The decision on whether to bring up Frost or York needs to be based on their progress and what is best for their long term development than the Flyers current needs.

Yeah, that’s what I figured.

Wonder if they look to try and move JVR for another winger with cap hit in the 5-5.5 million range. That would at least give them some wiggle room.

York ok, but Frost is a 2017 draft pick who has averaged nearly a point per game on a poorly coached and offensively challenged AHL team. I don’t think there is much benefit to keeping him down there.

I don't think the Flyers are in any kind of trade mode. Think about it. It's going to be basically like they're adding two player when Ellis and Hayes come back. Any team adding two players like that is going to get an upgrade. Providing they find their form after injury. They also have some future call up options.

Only thing I don't agree with above is that Frost is even close to being considered to be called up.
I think the kid is going to continue to middle, as of now he is close to invisible albeit on a terrible team.
I don't think he can keep up strength/speed wise with the bigger/faster bodies of the NHL.

To me the benefit is that he is a player that missed a ton of time. He needs to put together a strong string of hockey and to play. If he's playing well, now is not the time to interrupt that. You don't want to risk yo-yoing him up and down. The Flyers while having some obvious holes, have a good record. I think exercising some patience is the best thing.

Right now he has barely put together a thread let alone a string of good hockey.
His ceiling will be like Nick Cousins middler...
And enough of the he has missed a ton of time excuse...

You're kidding right? What did AV do last night going into the 3rd?

I think the Flyers move JVR, but in the off-season when he has only 1 year left on this deal. I honestly don't think right now there will be a strong market for JVR at his current cap hit.

I don't know what Frost's ceiling is because honestly we just have not seen enough of his play at an NHL level. However, if all he turns out to be is a Nick Cousins middler, I thin that would be a big miss given what the Flyers gave up to move up and pick him. Lets hope Frost develops to be more than this.

Why would he be kidding? The Flyers have had the issues they've had for a while. He finally last night made some changes. Then he changed again. What was he waiting for?

The Flyers didn't trade to move up to draft Frost. He was drafted with one of the first round picks they got in the Brayden Schenn trade.

thats when they shouldve done a rebuild, trading schenn for a pick that wouldnt be ready for a few years wouldbe been the perfect timing to trade others. The whole trying to stay competitive while rebuilding rarely works.
