Sabres had their chance at Monahan. I wouldn’t even answer their call after that last lengthy negotiation.

Any trade involving Monahan has to be an nhl player in the top 6, Flames are making the playoffs, no way they lose momentum on ''building'' assets. |

The annual Monahan trade rumors. Must be a slow news day. |

I like how the title refers to Monihan, and the article states Monohan, and Monahan. Maybe 3 different spelling from 3 different sources?
The youth taking over is interesting...Monahan is a whopping 2 months older than Lindholm. Gaudreau is 28. Mangiapane is 25. Not a huge gap.
Also, the Flames had a hot start but have lost 6 of the last 8 games. As for all the scoring...just 14 goals in those 8 games. Even-strength goals are in the bottom half of the league. |

That’s part of the problem. Flames are trying to trade Monihan, Monohan and Monahan which is just confusing all the other teams. |

Nashville - would have to be Forsberg coming back.
NJ - okay, so Zacha + Ty Smith.
NYI - no real fit there.
Buffalo - unless it's Dahlin coming back, pound sand. We can deal Valimaki elsewhere. |

If Monihan/Monohan/ Monahan isn't working out with Sutter, how's he going to fit in with Trotz? |

Just like few teams wanted to trade for Eichel with his neck injury, few would want to trade for Monahan with his identity crisis. |

The Devils needing another center does not make any sense. The team is getting Hughes back next month and the trio of Mercer, Hischier, and McLeod has held up for the most part. What are they going to do next year? Run Hughes, Hischier, Mercer, and Monahan? Come on man, make realistic trade scenario stories.
What the Devils really need is another scoring winger or a power forward. |

Spoiler: Treliving does nothing.
Either he re-signs with Gaudreau in CGY, or Gaudreau takes his homeboy with him to PHI - that's the answer.
Any players Calgary acquires generally have to fit within one of these molds, since it's Calgary, and nobody wants to come here:
-overpay
-a "Western Canadian kid"
-Swedish, we've got a mini-team Sweden going on
-Finish, again because these northerners can handle our weather
-US college players, though the secret's out on them, and we're no longer their best/only hope to make it to the NHL
-Drafting has been going well, 1/3 of current Flames were drafted players, late rounders who keep their mouths shut and have good camps tend to make it - again, that desperation theme, we're their only hope.
-recently: one odd-ball russian on the team |

Monahan is washed, 16 gp 8 points on pace for 40 points full season, your not getting dahlin for him so you will be the one to pound sand,
some players just lose the hunger after getting their first good contract, he has been trending down the past 2 full seasons and this current season.
Calgary should move him now while he does have some value, how much coming back i guess depends on how much the teams talking really like him. he is currently a 3rd/4th line player and hopefully he can get hot to increase his value. |

If the Devils need a scoring winger they could look at Gallagher. Another idea is Malkin who has spent some time on Crosby's wing and is ready to become a man.
For power forwards...the list starts and ends with Mike Hoffman.

#Isles Injury Update: Ryan Pulock is out 4-6 weeks with a lower body injury.
Islanders end up missing the playoffs and a bottom 10 team and win the lottery to have Wright in a brand new building...

I thought about Gallagher also. He'd look good with Zacha-Hischier or Tatar-Hughes. The Devils would have to give up (and I assume are willing to) at least one of Sharangovich, Kuokkanen, Boqvist, or Wood. Throw in whatever draft pick (most likely the 2022 1st) and maybe a B-level prospect. Best part, he's reunited with his boy Ty Smith and his frenemy PK Subban.
I think Johnsson and Bratt are untouchable this season. And no way do the Devils trade Mercer for any help. That kid is part of the core now. |

He hasn't lost his hunger, he's had about 10 surgeries. Apparently he's okay now but I'm not convinced. Any GM with half a brain will just watch him for now. |

Get ready to pay a steep price for Gallagher. Pittsburgh is after him. Especially since Malkin is heading to the Caps. Maybe Shania Moanifon ends up in Pittsburgh to fill the Malkin gap?
