Thanks Carol.
I think we could have won last night if not for the All Star Goaltending again. Damn those goalies are good. |

Still a few other good coaches available with experience, such as Kevin Dineen, currently with Utica Comets and Brent Sutter, who would be my choice.
Not sure some of the players would like the hardass approach, but it is needed. |

Thanks Carol,
8 Years for JB & 4.5 years for TG is enough, the results aren't there. Time to clean house. |

I believe Sutter gave up coaching Red Deer last season because he found it was too taxing amidst all the strain of Covid etc. I doubt he'd be looking for an NHL job unless he's really inspired with what Darryl is doing. And how weird would it be if he ended up coaching his son Brandon? Have we ever seen that at the NHL level?
Kevin Dineen is an interesting idea. Utica is crushing it under his leadership — won their first 13 games of the season before finally losing Friday night against Rochester.

If true- and I heard the same thing Friday night.
Either
@fr_aquilini
doesn’t believe in Benning’s vision / he plans to replace Jim.
Or….
Benning and Francesco’s decision to hire Julien was overruled by others within the Aquilini family. |

Don’t need a hard ass. Just a guy with good 200 ft systems and can get guys playing together as a real team instead of individuals.
And Brent Sutter is no Darryl Sutter. I think that would be a bad decision. |

Sorry you have to cover such a crap team. I've noticed the people who run the Canucks IG account don't even post witty captions on their post-game highlight videos anymore. Even they can't spin this poop |

Thanks for the write up.
Apparently it's happened 6 times. There's a list halfway down this reddit thread. Couldn't copy and paste without destroying it.

I think it's actually reached the point where everyone's accepted this team for what it is. Do you shake things up to try to climb back into the race or just ride the season out? Quite frankly, I'm okay with either.

I think you shake things up knowing this season is trash. After last year had a huge negative mental impact on the players, do you really just want to force them to ride out the season with the same coach and GM? Not only is that going to create a (more?) toxic culture, but it might impact young players' progress/desire to stay here.
Go the Calgary route, hire a coach, realize the season isn't salvageable, but next year the players will be primed to play that system. Basically assessment time for new GM, and a very extended training camp for the coach and players, since we know how TG hates those |

Craig Berube had 161 games of NHL head coaching experience before taking last place STL to a Stanley cup but yes he had lots of previous Asst coaching experience in the NHL.
Dean Evason was never a head coach in the NHL before taking over in Minny 3 years ago. Has them in 1st place right now. He had lots of other coaching in the WHL as head coach and Asst coach in Washington and Head coach in Milwaukee and asst in Minny for a couple years. |

#Canucks With 🍎🍎🍎(3 assists) today Lukas Jasek has taken over first place in the 🇫🇮 Liiga scoring race. He's a RH center/right winger who is versatile and can move up and down the line-up. Trent Cull spoke highly of him. It was a mistake IMO to let him go without giving him an NHL shot.
Probably the best overall player Utica had last season and never received a call up when just about everyone else did at the end of the season.
His agent talked about a soured relationship with the Canucks after that a bit. Just another thing that Benning and Co. have done wrong. |
