I doubt he ever plays another game in the nhl. He’s not short on talent, but he lacks decision making skills and trouble seems to follow him around everywhere that he goes; I can’t see any team taking that risk after he outstayed his welcome In Winnipeg, Buffalo and now San Jose.
Although, I could be wrong and I’m curious what Sharks fans think? |

Not a Sharks fan, but I have to ask:
Why would you put a 'clubhouse cancer' like him in your minor league system? Why not find some way to pay off his salary and let him go, or just tell him to go somewhere and collect his money? I am not familiar with the details of the CBA, but there has to be some way to get rid of the guy once and for all.
Let him go to the KHL or something, anything is better than keeping him in your system. |

My impression is that they cannot buy him out at this point in the season, which is why they will send him to the minor league team. |

According to Cap Friendly:
Buyout Period
The buyout period begins the later of June 15 or 48 hours after the Stanley Cup Final ends. It concludes on June 30 at 5 pm EST.
For the 2021 off-season, the buyout period begins 48 hours after the Stanley Cup Final ends. It concludes on July 27 at 5 pm EST.
They can't buy him out until the season is over, so why spread the poison though the minor league club? |

Correct, but that is how you get rid of a player that you don't want "once and for all" as you asked... |

Hi GT!
Thank you for your responses, obviously I am not communicating well. I thought you were saying that he could be bought out now, as his suspension ends.
Having said that, I don't understand why the Sharks would send him down to their minor-league team. Sadly the man has the reputation for destroying teams he plays on, so why let him inflict carnage down there? Could they find a way to put him on LTIR? Can you put him on a roster but scratch him every game and keep him away from the team? Can they just send him home and pay him until time to buy him out next summer? Maybe that's what they ought to do, but the NHLPA may not like it for some reason and grieve it.
Nobody is going to take him, so there is no sense to keep him in your organization.

He would probably have to do a year of exile in the KHL before teams would take a chance on him again |

People said similar things about Deangelo and he's having a career year with NYR.
I would not be so quick to write off his career/comeback. Everyone goes through tough times - some people a few times... |

Maybe a team would be willing to take on the Kane Challenge in exchange for another bad contract.
The Palmieri contract already looks like a bust for the Islanders.....I would be willing to trade even up with a little retention from San Jose. Get the guy his covid shot, and watch him light it up with Barzal.

He will be playing for another nhl team sooner rather than later is my expectation. Soon as the Sharks assume half his salary somebody will take the chance. Example in case would be Tony DeAngelo. He is a big big part of the Canes offence and he saw the writing on the wall and grew up. Not sure Evander will grow up but he is worth the gamble. My opinion folks. |

Lou sure screwed up the Islanders rosters with a bunch of old has beens in Palmieri, Chara, Parise to go with youngster Andy Greene and a spoiled baby in Josh Bailey who is not worth half his salary. I can not believe how bad the Isles have been and if not for Sorokin they would still be looking for their first win, lol Barzal must be ready to hang them up, haha jk but he must be so frustrated with this lineup. The only bright light besides Barzal is Oliver Wahlstrom and he is a bottom six for Barry, I must be missing something but Barzal should have Wahlstrom and Beavillier on his line while Lee is out. |
