Kevin Allen: Thursday's Thoughts include Predators, Boudreau, Rutherford, Pavelski Predators a mean bunch? With Rutherford in Vancouver, should we expect a Canucks-Penguins trade.

If there is a tax squad then I would put Ville Husson on it. Right on.

Rutherford was excellent for a few years in 2015-2017. He also had a great core to work with. He's been mediocre since 2017.

Thomas Chabot is the new Kris Letang with Team Canada; except this time there's not anyone better than him on his side of the ice

Just looking at ice time and veteran presence, it's not even a question imo. Most people, especially those that don't watch him every game, won't see how much he has to take on. It's not even a question that he should be on team Canada -- playing with veteran players this team would have been so much better.

27:26 - Thomas Chabot (Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson, ?)
26:23 - Darnell Nurse (McDavid, Draisaitl, NugentHopkins)
24:33 - Devon Toews (Mackinnon, Landeskog, Rantanen, Maker)
24:06 - Morgan Rielly (Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander)
22:30 - Shea Theodore (Stone, Pietrangelo, Pacioretty, Smith)

So ice time is the rationale for putting him on Team Canada. Someone else could point out that other than Zub there isn’t any reliable defensemen on the team. Better to make a case with his standout play.

Without a rookie goalie going on a crazy playoff run they dont win either of those cups. They weren’t the best team either year but found a way to win.

By the way, your comment about Seattle only having Giordano to trade is wrong. You are forgetting that many playoff teams think it's important to have good centres. And Seattle has UFA Marcus Johansson making just $1.5m. Ek said numerous teams are looking at him, including the Habs and Flyers. The fact that he doesn't actually play center is just a minor detail.

He was God-like between June 2015 to June 2017. Made one brilliant move after another. Definitely deserves credit for that. I certainly wouldn't expect that again.

Adding an excellent supporting cast that fit Sullivan's system like Kessel, Hornqvist, Hagelin, Schultz, Daley, etc. and Murray using up all his talent is why they won back to back SCs.

JR did make some good moves, but he made a very bad one for every good one. that back to back roster was a lot deeper and younger than today's bunch. and I wouldn't expect similar results in Vancouver.

Did you catch his list of 8 defenseman the other day. He named 7, but listed Evan Bouchard twice to make 8. The list included Devon Toes.

Isn’t Devon Toes related to Adam and Cal Foot?
