I must say I am not use to fresh blogs. Things have not been stale or crusty around here lately other than the Islanders scoring ability.

Dobson didn’t help by sending the puck up the boards instead of eating it.

As soon as he did that I knew something bad would happen. Unforced completely unnecessary play. He had so much time and space at that time he could’ve literally pinned the puck in the corner with 11 seconds left.

Brought in from the last thread.

"I thought I read somewhere they were interested in expanding to 34 teams, which would be terrible, but I can't find it so maybe not.

I'd imagine they'd be more willing to relocate now since there really isn't an expansion option. They gotta get the Coyotes out of Arizona, it's a total (frank)ing embarrassment for the league. This arena situation, whatever carousel of hockey arenas they'll be rotating around next year, the draft testing fiasco, the late-bonus payments, the allegations of a hostile workplace from ownership on down (that's all just in the last year or less lol), and everything else that poopbag franchise has forced the NHL to endure should be more than enough reason for getting them out of there. Houston is the layup relocation city. It keeps them in the West and they seem to be "next in line" for a team one way or another."

Being from Tucson, I want to see this franchise succeed. But they keep making it more and more difficult to defend keeping them in Phoenix. When they first got there, they were the Phoenix Coyotes and played temporarily in the Suns' arena, in downtown Phoenix. They were waiting for a fulltime home. That arena is much like Barclay's. A basketball arena where one end is obstructed if you're in the upper deck. Then they decided to change the name to the Arizona Coyotes to try to include (or entice) fans from Tucson. But then move to the far northwest side of Phoenix (Glendale), practically eliminating any chance that someone from Tucson would go to a game. It made an hour drive into an almost 2 hour drive (plus traffic).
Like you said, this franchise has made so many poor decisions. Piss-poor management and owners, the draft thing, bad trades, it's just a sh!t show all around. I would now relent and agree that it's time for them to go.
The NHL forced them into the Phoenix market to try to get the brand into more non-traditional hockey markets. Now it's time to pull the plug. Call them the Houston Aeros now.

Couldn't watch the game, but it sounds like they came up with a new and inventive way to fvck things up. I'll have to watch the video (painfully).

They are adept at finding ways to lose. I’m still in shock they lost that game last night or at the very least didn’t get a point. I don’t know why I’m shocked that game is a perfect depiction of this teams season so far.

“When you go through a tough stretch,” added Josh Bailey, “it can rattle you a little bit.”

Josh Bailey rattled? I have a hard time believing the guy that meanders through each and every shift this season as being rattled. The potential good thing about a rebuild is this guy will be jettisoned out of here. They won’t be worried about getting peanuts for him. If they blow the next few games I certainly hope Lameriello doesn’t hold on to the dream that this team has a chance and starts getting rid of the dead weight or I should say doesn’t perceive the “dead weight” as being viable to this teams future. Problem is for us a lot of that dead weight was just signed to extensions.

Looking for silver linings after last night's loss. They've moved up to 6th place.

The contracts were done as part of a win now mode. We have seen in the past that Lou and Barry much prefer playing and paying for experienced system guys than high end talent and youth. For that reason I don't expect a sell off no matter what, nor do I expect a 'let the kids play' mentality. Ultimately the narrative will be that covid and injuries dug a hole. I also don't think we'll see Bailey gone. I do wonder about Varly though. I believe he'll be going into the final year of his contract and Sorokin has clearly taken over as the number 1 goaltender at this point. It wouldn't shock me to see him, Clutterbuck, Chara and Parise dealt at the deadline.
More directly that we have about 14 million dollars in cap space next year. I'm pretty sure we won't sell off because the idea would be necessary pieces can be added with that money

Varlamov is a goner for sure if this trend continues.

Wasnt his fault last night, but he was ordinary too. Can't help but think Sorokin would have won that game. That may be unfair, but he's been superior by far

Team has to get a little younger next season. And a little more skilled. I'm all for selling off Bailey and Varlamov in the offseason, along with some of the scraps. There's some intriguing UFA options out there this summer.

Agreed I think of the lightning that one year they lost top players and finished toward the bottom had a great draft and now look at them. Maybe it’s not a bad thing we draft top young players have a little rebuild not total rebuild and who knows.

Maybe. I'm not going to get all worked up over a bad season. I'm not going to be looking for Lou and Barry to get axed either.
