Missing Pulock tremendously. Mayfield seems to be on the ice for every bad goal / last minute goal over the past dozen games. Chara can't skate. Looks like he's in his rookie season all over again.
Johnston looked terrible in for Martin who, say what you will, is faster and better in the corners than Ross.
If it weren't for Pageau, Clutter & Wahlstrom, we'd be dead last right now. Horrible way to lose a game after a comeback and late lead(TWICE!).
Why no Cizikas in OT? Hope he's not injured. |

Cptmjl: It is. For the first time in a very long time I’m growing tired of watching this team. Incredibly frustrating.
It's almost like they've reverted back to the Snowtard/Crappy era. Making the same dumb mistakes over and over. And not just a little mistake. Mistakes that lead to odd-man rushes the other way or quality chances in front of their own net. Definitely frustrating. |

On a lighter side note, I was just showing a buddy that I work with Pageau's first goal as an Islander on Youtube. Mostly because he's a huge soccer fan and was letting him listen to the Pageau chant, but the way that puck bounced off the glass right to him was incredible. We just don't get those lucky bounces this season. This year, he would have dropped the puck down and it would have hopped over his stick. |

The puck would have bounced off the glass and broken his jaw. Out 6-8 weeks with upper body injury |

Yeah they’re certainly not dialed in as a team. Little individual glimpses of good play from some players but overall pretty much inconsistent save for Sorokin, now Pageau, and Pelech imo. |

.@FriedgeHNIC mentions the #isles as one of the few teams he “wonders” about seriously gauging the Chrychrun market on 32 Thoughts.
Jokingly adds he doesn’t want to say more or Lamoriello will squash it.

Ok I guess this is why people are talking about it
I’m not going to claim to know a helluva lot about this guy but what’s his deal? His numbers don’t exactly jump out at me to deserve the hype surrounding him. Also, why would the coyotes trade him when he’s signed to a deal already? |

Your last sentence is the real question, as far as I'm concerned. The only reason I could possibly see for the Coyotes to move him is if someone ponies up a massive return that they simply can't ignore. Outside of that....I have no idea.
He's a really, really good defenseman on an even better contract. Don't forget the 41pts your seeing from last season is in 56gp. That's a 26g-33a-60pt pace over 82 games. His cap hit is $4.6M for three more years after this one. He's 23 years old. He's the kind of defenseman nobody ever trades. Young, talented and a steal of a contract. He's had some issues with injury to date (he's on LTIR right now), but the bulk of them seem to be behind him.
I'm struggling to see how we can acquire him without losing one, if not both, of Wahlstrom and/or Dobson. And frankly, the way Dobson's been playing lately....it might be better to just keep him and whatever other assets they'd need to land Chychrun. Also, the way Wahlstrom has been playing, I'm not seeing how we could stomach losing one of our best players this season.
Our prospect pool is razor thin, so we'd have to be gutting some of the roster to do this. I just don't see how they'd make it happen without losing some really good roster players. |

Yeah agreed I don’t see how we trade one of the only players that scores on a team that has a tough time scoring while also adding that he’s a young guy on an old team. Wouldn’t make sense to trade Wahlstrom. You could also lump Dobson in there. It would be pretty dumb to dump these kids when they’re just starting to come along now. I don’t see how it would work unless lameriello completely disagrees with what you and I stated which I hope he doesn’t.
I’ve pretty much moved on from this season hopefully we start thinking more long term rather then the right now. I say that knowing Chirchyrin is young but I don’t think trading our young players to acquire him makes much sense. |

Problem is that the UFA market for defensemen is pretty weak this year. Even weaker for LHD. Lamoriello may see that and figure that if he's going to trade for a defenseman, he may as well swing for the fences.
Shea Theodore (this pains me to write after his performance yesterday) is someone I wonder if they could be made available in the offseason. Vegas has Eichel's contract about to hit the books when he's healthy and they're probably facing a cap crunch at some point. He's got a ton of offensive talent and he's just getting a bit buried on the Vegas blueline since Pietrangelo kinda stole his spot.
Moving Wahlstrom is a non-starter for me, honestly. This team already can't score and trading a guy with a shot like that seems like a poor decision. Dobson could really end up being an extremely similar player to Chychrun, so I'm not dying to move him plus more assets for Chychrun when we could just keep him and let him continue to develop. If he keeps trending the way he's playing right now, he could be every bit as good. |

You beat my edit(s)
I’m looking at next season already. Obviously with this guys age he could be considered a factor for the future as well. With that said I can’t see it happening. |

That doesn't seem like an in-season trade for anyone, honestly. If it happens, I'm guessing it'll be an offseason deal. |

I guess the guy from eyes on isles read my post from Hockey buzz yesterday because he stated the exact players and draft pick I proposed for Chychrun.
Eye on Isles The final piece is the part that people are going to get upset about. It's the cost. Draft picks, prospects, roster players, you name it they would have to be on the table in this trade. Anthony Beauvillier as a roster play, Aatu Raty as a prospect, a first round draft selection. That's probably where you're starting out.
As I stated yesterday, if Wally and Dober are mentioned than it is not worth it. I would not trade either of them as their development is starting to show through. |

I read stuff over there for a laugh sometimes and it cements my belief that there are clearly more dumb then smart people within this fanbase. Has to be the dumbest site for the islanders and that says a lot. |
