they would be idiots for going. THeres gonna be covid outbreaks. theres gonna be people stuck there for 5 weeks. IMO they should have a age cap on it anyway, say.. 25 years old. I dont want my hockey season ruined because of the olympics.

I believe Swayman is exempt from waivers but yeah sending Swayman down is less than ideal.

However, I do think if a minority of players want to go anyway, they should be able to.

China sucks. The rest of the world should boycott them, but they are afraid to because of money.

Pretty sure this is exactly what will happen. They will send Swayman down (which is a huge mistake) and roll Rask/Ullmark. Hope the demotion doesnt ruin Swayman's confidence, or worse prompt him to ask for a trade.

Summer olympics had no problem postponing one year. Not sure why this option isn't more widely explored. But yeah, I could care less if players go. However if they want to, they should have the option. If they get stuck there for 5 weeks, then their spots on rosters should be impacted accordingly.

It’s unfortunate for these players that want to compete in the Olympics and this could be their one and only shot at it.

The owners are paying these guys millions of dollars to play in the NHL, they don’t want to play games without them while they are gone and what happens when they have to further quarantine because they got Covid. Not to mention if they get injured playing non NHL games... Not much benefit to the NHL teams.

It sucks because the Olympic hockey is fantastic and we all want to see the best on best.

swapping two guys that aren't meeting expectation and aren't considered top 6 forwards by either team seems redundant. If they were gonna trade him for some D i'd get it. I'm almost ready to say blow it up. you can call out individual players but the truth is they have too many ponies and not enough horses. To me this is all on sweeney. They acted shocked about Krejci but reality is they didnt have the cap space for him anyway, once Donnie overpaid for an unneeded goalie and a bunch of 4th liners.
