Steve Palumbo: Cale Makar Appreciation Post

The first time I saw that goal, I thought Dach got lazy, lost his concentration, and laid off him. On replay, Dach got snake charmed and you can see Makar was deep in his head. Dach knew Makar was a threat even with his back to him as it appeared he was cycling to the blueline. Dach was in no-man's land. Right at the point where Dach concludes Makar is going to cycle out of the zone and he start shifting his weight up ice, Makar cuts and breaks Dach's ankles.

Brilliant stuff. That's just hockey genius right there.

The kid is a joy to watch.

I'm sure this will be removed but it is gold. Under the heading "Broken Ankles Incident":

On January 4th, 2022, Dach unfortunately has his ankles broken by Colorado Avalanche Defenseman Cale Makar. Makar subsequently undressed Chicago goaltender Marc-André Fleury to score an overtime game winning goal, securing a 4-3 victory. Dach has since made no further comment on the status of his ankles or the incident.

Steve, thanks for the post, this is solid stuff here. Would really like to see more consistent posts if you're the Avs blogger. Rarely is there a game preview or game recap about the Avs.

WE WANT JUSTICE! But seriously he allowed too many goals vs Philly and gave up a pair vs Ottawa. Better get more development time in AHL...
