Biggest issue is upgrading Martin Jones. Wondering if they are still very interested in Khudobin if the asking price comes down.

Appreciate the effort but it was so predictable. Didn’t offer up anything but the obvious.

1. Make a splash? No how about hiring a good coach who is in tune with today’s game. Last thing the flyers need is a win now type coach.

2. Agree. CC is not part of any solution going forward. He has a NMC so it is up to him to be traded.

3. Agree trade RR

4. Picks are fine but what trying to get close to get close to nhl ready players instead? Cant wait years for picks to pan out.

5. Hart just signed a contract before the season. Jones has been fine though you trade him asap

6. Just ride the JVR contract out for now. Maybe in a year you trade him for whatever.

No Fletcher isn’t the man for the job as that is as clear as day. He is a below average GM. He has made the Flyers worse

I agree with a lot of what you say Kevin. I am of the feeling that perhaps keeping Risto might make sense as apposed to not. Other than that, I could see almost everything you say come to pass. JvR may have to be bought out rather than moved since moving him will cost an asset.

My personal goal, collect top 100 picks in the next three drafts. Next year is supposed to be the best of the three but this year has potential. Why top 100? because after that the fall off from productive professional players is so steep. You can build a good farm system as well as NHL club that way.

The problem with all of this comes down to trading players to acquire picks to rebuild. The Flyers have been in a rebuild for over 14 years when they finished dead last and landed the 2nd overall in the 2006 draft.

Then there was the relaunch of the rebuild after Carter + Richards were traded. Fast fwd a few seasons later and it was widely believed we had the strongest crop of prospects in the league for YEARS. WTF happened to all of that?

Most of them were duds who never panned out.

I still believe we have solid prospects/talent in the likes of Farabee, Hart, Provorov etc., but the reality is this organization has done an absolutely piss poor job at drafting / development that is blatantly apparent looking at things over the last 10 years since the Carter + Richards trades.

Even if they land pure gold for G, the reality is the organization which is the biggest problem and responsible for the poor drafting/development is still in place. Sure Hextall is gone and Fletcher is the new GM, but does anyone actually truly feel Fletcher is an upgrade here? The guy was awful in Minnesotta and since arriving here makes 1 or 2 good moves, then drops a head scratcher that takes 3 steps back.

I want to believe in the future of this team. I want to see G get moved to somewhere he can win. The guy deserves that. I want that return to improve this team. The reality though is until theres a new coach, new GM, and new defensive system put in by a completely new ownership group I don't think it's possible to "buy in".
