best way to rebuilt is to liquidate most of your young assets in a trade for one player. |

Previous reports have suggested:
-Gallagher to Pittsburgh
-Price for RNH
-Jake Allen to the Avs
-also Drouin to the Avs
-Toffoli, Hoffman, Petry, Savard, and Chiarot all on the move
Now they might be buyers. Interesting.

Wait I just realized that Lafreniere sounds French and was probably born near Montreal. Better make it an E4. |

Blueline help cause the Habs are so well stocked there |

Pass on Allen and Drouin. We need a reliable defensive minded defenseman with size, a top 6 and bottom six forward and a depth goalie. |

Perhaps Petry and/or Chariot + a forward + a young promising prospect (Harris if he won’t sign) for Lafrenniere? Rangers probably want out 1st round pick this year and/or next year included….which would be a NO for me. |

You know, an upgraded blue line.
Forget the fact that our blue line is the envy of quite a few teams right now and we are set back there for about the next decade. |

For me, it would take Suzuki.
So, we are probably both better off as we are. |

Well, for starters, it's at least a 1st rounder and 2nd rounder +.
Some Habs fans want to peddle the notion that both Petry and Chiarot are both worth 1st rounders.
Petry is overpaid and a repeat offender on the Top 5 list of turnovers year after year while Chiarot is -42 in his last 82 NHL games.
It would take an extra 1st rounder for someone to take on Petry's contract and term. Chiarot will be easier to move due to the expiring contract - but it'll take more than just him to get a 1st rounder out of anyone - like Chiarot & a 3rd. |

Yeah that seems like a really bad take.
This is all moot, since he is highly unlikely to go anywhere. But, even having played the majority of his minutes on the 3rd line (because Kreider, Panarin) and getting no PP1 action, Laf has a decent chance of reaching 20 goals on the year. |

Sounds like a deal made in Heaven. Montreal gets some winger from PQ for any piece at all. |

Ek has never correctly predicted anything, so let’s not act like this is a real possibility. Having said that, I’d never really taken a look at Laf’s numbers until right now. Woof!
He’s still super young, but those numbers have to be troubling to Rangers fans

His 5v5 #s are top 5 for #1 picks over first 100 games...most of those point are playing 3 Rd line...not to shabby |

Like rrentz said, he stacks up pretty well 5v5 overall.
But, you're right that his totals aren't very high. We just have about 17 left wingers on our roster right now! There's no way he's pushing past Panarin or Kreider, so he has played mostly 3rd line minutes. Now, he's trying to adjust to his off wing, playing against the other teams best. Plus, he is on the 2nd PP unit and the 1st takes about 1:30 of each power play.
He's going to be just fine in the end. |

Actually, it's not the worst of trading partners.
Lafreniere FOR Petry, Toffoli, 1st in 2022 (top 5 protected, or 2023), and Caufield, with MTL retaining 50% salary?
Firstly, I'm not sold that Lafreniere will be a star in the league, especially as NYR doesn't make sense to give him 18-20mins per game to develop into one.
Rangers could fill current needs for D and scoring winger, as well as a promising prospect and high pick...add in 50% retained salary...hmmm, makes at least me think...

I hope he is. Kid was so highly touted, you’ve gotta think he’ll get it together
Rangers are having a hell of a season, and the future appears to be bright. Just imagine if their #1 and #2 overall picks were also lighting it up |

For sure! Shesty should be the favourite for the Vesina, if not the Hart!
I don't have great reservations about Laf. He just needs to figure out the nuances of RW.
I'm more concerned about Kakko. He shows a lot of great skills and is a horse along the boards. But, despite playing mostly with Bread and Strome his totals are shyte. |
