Good, well-researched article, though, I'd rather the Salary Cap Nucks provide the helping hand, to their benefit of course. |

Why would you give Vegas any worthwhile assets to help them. may them pay to move a large contract mid season. |

Many NHL Teams will try to pillage Vegas, so get with the program. |

If Vegas is willing to give up useful pieces, they won't be giving them up to Calgary. If they're willing to trade Reilly Smith, they won't be getting lesser value for him because other teams want Reilly Smith. If teams are bidding against each other, the whole helping Vegas out of a jam idea disappears.
Maybe the Dadonov deal could happen, but why would the Flames want him and be on the hook to pay him next year? He also has a 10 team no-trade clause, which the Flames are definitely going to be on. Playing in Calgary isn't worth the headache of moving to Canada right now.
I don't think the Janmark deal really makes the Flames better and tying up 2.7 million for a backup next year doesn't make a lot of sense, especially for a garbage backup.
I don't see any way the Flames and Knights make any deals at all unless one of them goes on a 3-week losing streak. They're the two best teams in the division at the moment. |

So is it Reilly Smith we want or Mike Reilly?

Flames need a 2nd line center.
Then they can slide Backs down to the 3rd line and ideally they could find someone that would allow Dube to have someone to play with.
I see Dube as trade fodder, he had talent but does not seem be a good fit for Sutter.
That would open up a spot for third line RW….would be nice to fill that spot from someone in the baby Flames. |

I’m not sure what’s wrong with Dube? Is he hurt? Sutter? Just not as good as he showed earlier? Or all of the above. I agree he may be the first one included in a trade. |

Phillips deserves a shot. Czarnik is on waivers.
Sutter wants enough size in the bottom six though, which is reasonable. |

Which is weird considering thats the style of play he's been the best at. If there's a deal to be made to upgrade this team, he'll undoubtedly be included. |

I agree on Phillips. I don’t think Sutter was too happy when it looked like he was forced to play him that one game. Kid almost scored though, could be a good fit feeding Monahan though. |

The idea of a Vladar for Hutton swap in the last trade package doesn't sit right with me. I'm sick of back-up goalie tryouts, and Vladar has been just fine in the role so far.
In the end, I'd let Vegas flap in the wind and let them worm their way out of trouble as Tampa Bay managed to do. Maybe it would lead to league-wide changes about not abusing LTIR loopholes.
Vegas with Eichel in the regular season is far more dangerous to your team's chance of grabbing a spot than helping them out of a jam before the playoffs start. |

I’m pretty sure he meant Vladar for Broissant, Hutton’s a defenceman. Still wouldn’t do anything to help Vegas, there’s better options out there.
Hertl for Monahan and our first, Panthers 2nd, giving up a 1st that’s probably going to be 32nd overall isn’t too much. |

I cannot see the Flames being able to get Hertl - regardless of what they offer. he controls where he will go, because he has a 3 team "will accept a trade to" clause in his contract. The likelihood of the Flames being one of those 3 teams - SLIM.

WOW its not Siberia.... i'm more skeptical about teams willing to take on Mony's 6.375 next year than convincing players to come to Calgary for a possible playoff run.

It may as well be. There aren't many places less appealing for an NHLer than Calgary. Calgary's easily bottom five. Hertl's also from Czechia, so moving to Canada's even more of a hassle than it already is with the gigantic COVID headache.
