I watched the first period of this game, and to be honest it was not very good hockey. Glad the US won though.

I love all the rumors this time of year. Read this potential trade for Giroux, what do you all think?

The Flyers would get Avs 2023 1st round pick to start. The Flyers also are believed to be pursuing a top prospect Sampo Ranta, 21, a Colorado Eagles AHL left winger who was drafted in the third round (78th overall) by the Avs in 2018, and a player from Colorado’s roster, such as center Tyson Jost or left winger J.T. Compher.

I say, keep the pick and give me back Newhook and Ranta.

It is extremely doubtful that Colorado is going to give up Newhook. Unless Colorado sustains a significant injury, I don't know why they would want to add Giroux. They have a ton of forward scoring. If I was them, I would pursue a defenseman such Chiarot.

I won't blame Fletcher for the player being injured. However it was pure mismanagement to send York down.

Looks like York fell awkwardly into the boards, might have hurt his shoulder or neck. At least he came back and tried to play, so hopefully not a shoulder injury like Frost or Foerster. This is what I have been concerned about regarding York. He may be a workout freak, but he is still a small defenseman and if this was in the NHL it could have been a heck of a lot worse.

True, but it never hurts to ask. Maybe the Flyers sweeten the deal and throw in Braun for defensive help. I mean, its about this year for the Avs right? Giroux gives them depth at wing and center and can slot in for MacKinnon if he goes down for a bit.

If a capitalist economic system is supposed to effectively find the best ideas and people and allow them to flourish, why does Chuck Fletcher have a job in hockey?

If this was in the NHL it could have been heck of a lot worse? Do you believe half the crap you post? There’s a lot more guys finishing their checks in the AHL buddy. What do they hit harder in the NHL?

So why would it have been different in the NHL? They have harder boards? Your concerns of York's size are unfounded in my opinion.

If we win today do we still want to model our rebuild around Detroit?

I know many wanted to do so after our loss the other night even though no one and I mean no one ever mentioned Detroit as some kind of model to follow in the past.

Again just curious if we do indeed win tonight do we scrap our plan of modeling our rebuild around Detroit?

It's so comical that it's really sad with some of the stuff. Heck, not some of it. Most of it. Apparently the NHL has different boards than the AHL.

Win or loss has nothing to do with it. One team plays with solid structure and has done a really good job handling young players. The other team is the opposite. You're also incorrect that nobody has mentioned Detroit and especially Yzerman and his ability to build and manage a team.

Why would the Flyers need to sweeten that prospective deal?

As that roster is currently constructed it would easily be the worst starting lineup in the NHL after Grioux is traded. I actually enjoyed the US/Canada game last night! Yeah, I know it's not best on best so save me that grief!! It was just nice to root for a team that was actually faster than the other team!!! The Flyers go into every game the slower of the two teams and based on last night's game team USA has more speed/skill than team Canada!! That will hiss off some of those stodgy Canadians that think only they can play hockey the right way! Latest statistics from The Hockey News indicate that there are now 43% Canadians employed in the NHL versus 28% Americans. More Americans every year! I have nothin on today's game....they should just forfeit the rest of the season so no one else gets hurt.

Exactly! I believe I for one went on a diatribe about Detroit's rebuild and how it looks like Yzerman is in the process of building yet another perennial contender.

Not meaning to imply players in the AHL don't finish checks. However players in the NHL are bigger and faster, that is just a fact.

Look, if you guys disagree with your myriad of hockey playing experience, that's your opinion. But there is a difference between disagreeing and insulting, which both of you like to do to posters on this forum quite a bit. Just disagree and leave it at that. Grow up!

I am not saying they would, just responding to your thought that the Avs should go after a defenseman. If this is true, I believe Braun might be a good piece to throw in a trade with the Avs if the Flyers really wanted Newhook. I would hope you would want the Flyers to get the best deal possible for Giroux, but then again, it wouldn't fit your repeated narrative towards Fletcher.

You make this claim to having a superior level of playing experience with out actually knowing any facts. That's more of the same. The replies made were in response to your illogical comment.

So what logic is there behind your comment that if the Flyers really want Newhook, they can sweeten the deal with Braun to make it happen. Why wouldn't I want the Flyers to get the best deal? What does that have to do with the deal you mentioned? Nothing. There is no narrative towards Fletcher. Only dealing in the facts.
