There is nothing to rave about in that victory last night except the exceptional play of Helle. The Jets were pretty horrendous otherwise and when they start playing the Avalanche and top teams in the east you will see how truly bad they are defensively.

I would have had Harkins playing on the third line with Appleton. I also would have left the top two lines alone and kept Ehlers with Dubios . It's only a short-term thing anyways until Lowry is back on Friday.

It really bothers me to see the Jets being outshot severely in the first period and cement-head Dave Lowry just stands there and says nothing. Call a fricking timeout and lay into your team to get off their #ss. He didn't even do a fist pump or even smile on any of the Jet's goals. Show some fricking emotion and lift your team !!! I have serious problems with this coach. I'd rather have Mark Morrisson from the Moose coaching the Jets right now. I can't see any way the Jets catch Dallas with Lowry at the helm. Just not going to happen.

Thanks for the article Jacob!

I think for the jets to make the playoffs, they have to win these next 4 games vs non-playoff teams (sens, jackets, coyotes,Sabres). Anything less than 8 points and they’re finished.

I think last night was the first game in over a month where Hellebuyck allowed fewer than 3 goals. Hopefully that trend continues into this final stretch. On back to back games, they should still play Comrie for the second game at least. He’s played well this year when called upon.

Thank you for curb stomping the GK. yes I am a bitter Sabres hockey fan and I don't want to see Jack Eichel in the playoffs..

So good win and thank you

I think the Jets need to roll with 3 scoring lines and I keep saying how archaic our coaching staff is when they keep this top 6, bottom 6 talk.

Jacob, after thinking some more about what you said. I actually think the lines need to be:

Ehlers-Scheifele-Wheeler
Connor-Dubois-Svechnikov
Perfetti-Stastny-Appleton
Harkins-Lowry-Sanford

I think this allows the team to distribute minutes much better. And we also end up with more threats.

Dude. Perfetti is likely out for a few more weeks. Better re-think those lines

The Jets are usually out shot, allow way too many dangerous shots and only win because of Helly. The have no defensive system, poor, soft 3rd and 4th lines, except for Lowry, a soft timid defense that backs in past their own slot who never hits anyone in the Jets end and are the kings of stick checks. Helly is the only hope that this team has to make the playoffs.

Too bad they didn't keep Copp and trade Lowry instead, the Harkins-Copp-Svechnikov line against the Hawks was the best 3rd line this team has had since the 2015 line!

Hopefully Appleton can get some offense out of Lowry's game.

The difference in gap control between VGK and Jets was a least three feet in VGK's favour. The other notable was the inability of the Jets to exit the zone. Must have been two dozen turnovers while Jets were trying to exit their own zone. Inexcusable mistakes which really good teams are going to capitalize on if cement-head can't figure a way to solve it ( ....which he won't )

Vesalainen just hasn't shown much imop. He was supposed to be good on the boards but he is overall "slow" seems ineffective using his big body so, the Moose is likely his best option at this point.

Looking forward to Sandford getting used to the team and system, maybe he will use that big body.

Someone said to me that the Jets must have been "frustrated" after the first period!

And I replied "Frustrated be damned! They should be embarassed to call themselves NHL players! To not show up in the first period of the most important game of the season thus far (and get their backsides out-shot 17-4) - in front of their home fans yet - is totally embarassing. Unacceptable!"

Yes, I know that the coaching staff is questionable at best. But something is drastically wrong inside that Jets dressing room. I wish I knew what it is. But someone new has to come in and sort it out - and some heads need to roll.

Injuries? Maybe - but they're not all hurt. Some need to dig down - and take a look in the mirror.

Really some of the guys are playing like they'd rather miss the playoffs and get an early start on the golf course. In the meantime, pad their stats! Is that possible?

There - I've had my rant! Go Jets!!!

Vesalainen is either: terrible or a product of poor coaching. Only way to find it is by either trading him away or getting a new coaching staff. Its been the common theme for every player in the Jets locker room, outside of the Connor-PLD-Svechnikov line.

Ves has a near Laine type one-timer yet I have literally never seen it used since he joined the Jets. I wouldn't mind seeing it on the second PP unit later in a game where the jets are actually up by a few goals and can afford to experiment. We have had a few of those as of late but yet we never see any experimentation.

Anaheim on Dadanov’s no trade list. Trade to the Ducks voided. Could be good news for the Jets as this prevents Vegas from bringing back players from their IR.

I am hearing that Winnipeg was not on Dadanov’s no trade list. Goes to show that not all players have Winnipeg on their no trade lists.

The only team the Jets need to worry about getting in front of is Dallas. Vegas won't matter at all.

BTW....Dadanov can still get traded at any time to a team like Arizona ( if that team is not on his no trade list) but they can't play him for the rest of the season (or playoffs). Obviously, that team would want some decent compensation for that . Once Martinez or Stone gets healthy you will see that trade happen as VGK's have no choice.

there are about 4 teams with 78ish points, one of those teams is likely to fall down the standings to the edge of the playoffs. regardless - jets need to win games. 96 points might do it, 99 almost certainly would. 28 points needed down the stretch, 18 games to go.

Hasn't there been plenty of times to try that though?
I mean other then Ehlers, Schmidt or Pionk I don't see any one else on that 2nd PP unit that has a shot thats any kind of threat, really don't see why Vesalainen couldn't have been given a few looks on the 2nd PP with its whole 30 seconds it gets to try him in the one timer position.

I get he hasn't done much of anything with his opportunities he's had but would it of hurt to give him a bit of time on the second power play, I don't think so.

Lack of experimentation was an issue with Maurice and it seems to be a problem with old man Lowry too, new boss same as the old boss unfortunately.

I’ve seen Ves’s shot and it’s lethal. I think the management hasn’t done him a lot of favours in the sense that he hasn’t really put in a place for his skill set. Jets have good skill and scoring so they are asking him to change his game, some can some can’t.

Heinola’s management has been horrendous. Why he gets called up NOT to play is insane.

Charlie Huddy has to go , but I think True North will go cheap on the Head Coach which means Huddy will stay.

I think Jets will announce their Head Coach choice right after the season ends

No one in the Pacific matters because the top three always have a spot. Most teams at top three in the Central have games in hand. The Jets won't catch them. Nashville matters a bit but it would have to be an epic collapse and it has 11 home games ( and they don't play Dallas again) . It's all about Dallas and that last spot and they also have 11 home games and play mostly easy teams. Jets have the toughest schedule out of any of them. Its a very difficult task.

Logan Stanley since his Gordie Howe. Hard to think Heinola couldn’t perform better than this no?

Stanley doesnt have the skating ability to keep a close gap, has to keep his distance as to not get burned. this is not something that will improve with time and age. he will constantly allow more shots and struggle to keep puck out of our zone. but hey, i hear he's big and clear the front of the net which is good, cause its where he spends most of his time.
