The poor Save Percentage by Lanky could possibly be partly because of the high danger scoring chances given up by the team. Q....I mean, JC.....err....King has to straighten that crap out.

Playing Seth Jones 28 minutes is ridiculous.
Changing line combinations and defensive pairings every single game is ridiculous.
Switching natural LD to RD every game or within a game is ridiculous. Put Gus and DeHaan at right D. They won’t be back next year anyway.

I have never seen a goalie who has so much trouble catching a puck as Lankinen has.
Having said that I hope he is resigned and they don’t bring in a decent journeyman goalie. The goal is the worst record in the NHL next year.

King’s comments do not sound like a coach that will be back next year. GOOD! (And I don’t want him back in Rockford either.) Attempt to bring in first class coaching staffs for the Hawks and the Hogs that have skill sets and demeanor for a lengthy rebuild.

Cheer for Edmonton and Minnesota. I doubt either pick of theirs that we own will be upgraded. But it could happen. Hopefully we do not win the lottery this year. Then at worst we have 2 seconds this year. Next year probably one of the top two picks an early 2nd round pick and Tampa’s first and second. The following year probably one of the top two picks an early 2nd round pick and Tampa’s first.
Be very careful adding long term contracts this summer or the next two summers. In 3 years you will have Seth Jones and probably Debrincat with big long term contracts, but you want a massive amount of cap space to sign a top free agent or two to add to the young players that were high draft picks in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Be careful what you wish for lottery wise. It has never helped Detroit being the worst team in the league, they have never had #1 overall.

And what defenseman should get more ice time? Gus got 19 minutes, C. Jones was benched. Vlasic got 14, which is probably more than he can handle. Stillman got 17, de Haan and McCabe about 19 each. Except for Stillman the others got about 10 minutes more than they should play.

Do you think the S. Jones trade is the reason why this team is one of the worst in the league? I keep hearing it is coaching and systems. In no way is it a lack of talent.

Could care less about the on ice product last night as this team is pure horse crap. Until that changes, zero expectations.

Reason I tuned in was for the broadcast of Foley and tallon. Enjoyed it. Got vintage Dale after that 4th Dallas goal where he berated Jones for a "soft play" and then somebody must have chirped Dale during the commercial break as they came back with Jones "he's everywhere tonight" highlight package..........

Also found it uncomfortable Tallon nor Foley mentioned Bowman by name when discussing the building of the championship team(s). I get they are trying their best to forget the Aldrich thing happened but to completely shut out Bowman for having a hand in that while naming 100 other guys....very uncomfortable.

Outside of that...who cares? Horse has been beaten to death. Hope Riechel scores soon to get off the schneid...he's getting some good looks.

I am just glad folks thought that Fleury didn't impact this team.....while these 2 sieves get lit up each and every night. both are just B-A-D

Was at the game last night and said the exact same thing. At this point if you don't realize the difference Crawford, Lehner and Fleury made while on this team you just aren't paying attention.

This defense is atrocious. Of the 6 on the ice last night, sure, S.Jones deserves a spot and there are some things I see in Vlassic that I like, but not one tear will be shed if and when the others are gone.

Lastly, S. Jones has to be one of the least noticeable #1D in the league. He is average at best in his own zone, and isn't really a difference maker in the offensive zone.

Yeah I was watching that game and just thinking how many legit players do they have that would be on a playoff contender. I didn't come up with many.

I am already assuming another 3-5 bad more years...maybe year 5 they get tease us but they have a TON of holes....

IMO.....holes are

2-3 top 6 players...including 1c and 2c
3 top 4 d men
NHL goalie

Depth guys galore.....

So yeah, they are going to be bad for the foreseeable future.

I think he'll be back, Elbows pointed out to me they are playing a hybrid defense now, i thought i saw it vs Buffalo but not Arizona? Which is weird but whatever, If they continue with the hybrid defense i think this is coming from KD and probably King. I don't think King would change things if he thought his job was on the line in the middle of the season.

Can’t it be both players and coaches. That is what I would vote for. Rebuild both areas.

I think he'll be back, Elbows pointed out to me they are playing a hybrid defense now, i thought i saw it vs Buffalo but not Arizona? I don't understand the logic of not wanting to win the lottery. I've seen it a couple times on these boards. Any chance you have to land a top 2 pick, you welcome it with open arms and hope your GM doesn't reach for Dach. I've heard this draft class is weaker, but I only trust the "experts" so far and can guarantee the draft generates a few elite players as it does every year.

I thought Crawford a co-coach, associate coach whatever has run the defense since JC got canned. I don't think King has one iota of input into the defense.
