I'll see how they come out in the first game.
I remember we were supposed to smash the Hawks during the play-in round and... welp...

We'll see how long the games are called like regular season games... Penalties might make this a quick series for EDM. It will take the kids on the Kings roster 3 games to realize what getting hit over and over is like and to return the favor. I'm hoping Quick can steal a game or three and Smith will go back to being Mike Smith. Either way, I'm just happy to be here!!

Sean, I wish you'd have mentioned a bit on your thoughts of the impact Kane has had on the teams success since he joined.

It should be a good series. You gotta love being back in the playoffs.

The Hawks that season outscored Edmonton at 5 on 5 147-141 and allowed fewer 5 on 5 goals (147 compared to the Oilers 157. The belief that Edmonton was a vastly superior team to those Hawks was pretty unwarranted.

Throw out the regular season head to head results. They mean nothing in the playoffs. Penalties in the first round will be interesting to follow. Most times, the whistles are put away, but there have been some times when a rogue ref calls everything. I think it was calculated last year that playoff goals per game was something like 5.8. That means a lot of 4-2, 4-3 scores. More 5v5 scoring than PP.

I expect a sweep. LA has put in a valiant effort to make it, but they are wounded.

...welp, the young kids like Byfield, Kaliyev, and Spence will get some games in the playoffs. So that's cool.

This looks like a really uneven series. Putting aside the lack of finishers and the woeful power play (and those are two big things to ignore for the sake of an argument), the Kings' defenders are sloppy with the puck. EDM will kill them for those kinds of mistakes. In the playoffs, you can't be sloppy with the puck.

4-1 EDM me thinks.

While I prefer LA to VGK as a playoff opponent, I have genuine concerns around a team full of young talents (Kaliyev, Byfield, Durzi, Spence, etc) that HAVE to step up being supported by a group of top notch two-way veterans- Danault in particular concerns me as a matchup C. Losing Doughty will hurt them, but Roy is a quietly strong Dman.

Should be fun to watch anyway and the mentor V mentee coaching story-line will add another layer to it!

Yup. LBI, didn't look too serious and is expected back for game 1. Hopefully he's ready to go

Lunk Head took care of it. Arena janitors are invaluable for this reason alone.

Well they should win this round. They have the easiest match up in all of round 1.
