The Flyers need to see how long it will take Joel Farabee, who just underwent cervical disc replacement surgery, not only to get back into the lineup but also to recover his game.
Has there been any announcement as to how he was injured and when they knew he needed surgery?

I saw something that symptoms surface during the offseason. |

Not an announcement, no. But what's been said that he began off-season workouts and either injured his neck or any neck issue related to the shoulder problems of last season worsened significantly. Either way, it happened after the season and after he took time off (including skipping the IIHF Worlds). |

This team needs a new owner, this corporate owned bullshiit needs to end. It is all about the bottom line and not about winning the cup with the current group.
Still can't believe GM was talking about signing more FA. Last thing we need is more old slow players on there last contract.
Go the Ottawa route and play your young guys and find out who is an NHL player and who isn't. Then make deals to acquire the missing parts once you have your core.
Flyers dont have a core, they have some good pcs but nothing even close to a Cup team. Smart move is to gain assets and go for bedard next year. |

Bill, appreciate the prospect directory. What I see is that aside from the goalies and Emile Andae the cupboard is bare when it comes to forward prospects that have top 6 ability or D that are top 4. How did things go so wrong after a decade with little success? I know they have all of their able players slated to play at the NHL level, but this must rate the Flyers at the bottom of the heap WRT the farm system. |

We were supposed to never hear about him again after Fletcher waived him the first time. |

There are still those that will point to Buffalo in their arguments against a rebuild, but ignore the process Colorado took to acquire its high end talent.
Ignore Tampa, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Washington. Hell the Leafs, and Edmonton are miles ahead of our franchise as well.
This retool bullpoop we keep being sold on every year is frankly nothing but a lie by incompetent men. |

Bill,
Just curious as the thoughts on Hayes. I know his contract is tough to move but I feel like he was more signed to help this team especially with AV coming in at the time and you had Patrick that was trying to find his way. Do you think they could talk to him if they were looking at retooling and see if he might have interest going somewhere else?
The Flyers now are at a different place then when they brought in AV even if it was a short time ago.

Colorado's process took 13 years between their initial decision to rebuild (with Matt Duchene as the initial player they were going to build around), 11 years since drafting Landeskog second overall. nine years since drafting MacKinnon first overall and seven years since drafing Rantanen in the top 10. Even then, they had to strike gold five years ago in drafting a Junior A defenseman fourth overall. It took missing the playoffs seven times and exiting in the first round three times before they started to closer.
That's fine. They are now the Stanley Cup champions. But let's not pretend that it didn't take a very long time with a whole lot of pain even after they had their forward nucleus in place. |

I agree with your approach on what the Flyers should do. However the Buffalo argument that nothing is a guarantee when selecting top prospects in terms of them reaching their potential has merit to it.

Foerster has top-six upside. They hope it clicks at some point with Tuomaala. |

It's been damn near 50 years for the flyers. What's another 6, 7,or 8? What they are doing or will end up doing is utter nonsense. |

To continue on this current path when it’s basically what they have done for a decade is nothing but stupidity.
They have willingly set the bar at some sort of low seeded team hoping to overachieve on the best of days.
Pathetic, and I would love to hear the explanation from the egomaniacal dinosaurs that influence this franchise. |

Is anyone else beyond tired of the Makar - Flyers situation? Obviously anyone would love Makar on their team but our fanbase has had severe tunnel vision with this draft year. Let’s rewind a little.
It’s 2016-17 season. Giroux arguably has his worst season for us still recovering from his core injury. Fans and media all season long voice their concern of Giroux’s future with us as well as his longevity.
As a franchise, we are depleted at center from prospects and to current talent. Our next best Center Sean “3C” Couturier is fresh off an underwhelming 34 point season. We have a clear massive hole and We just spent the last few drafts drafting D men.
We’re expected to draft 14th. I remember (on here and social media) fans were drooling over the pipe dream of somehow winning the lottery to get our biggest need: a big center man who is right handed. Suddenly this pipe dream becomes reality.
I’m sick of our fanbase acting like none of this exists or happened. It truly sucks we don’t have Makar, as well Patrick not even being on this team anymore, but this obsession that majority of our fan base whines and whines and whines daily over is just getting absurd. |

Of course it took a lot of time. A lot of pain. The payoff for teams that are able to do such an approach properly is establishing themselves near the top of the league for a number of years. Instead of just hoping to catch lightning in a bottle.
The Flyers have had 10 years of the exact same with nothing to show for it. No closer than we were a decade ago, with arguably a less talented core group today.
There is no sane argument for continuing on this path year after year when it’s yielded the team absolutely nothing.
I agree with your thoughts on Flyers daily, the team should essentially do a whole lot of nothing this off season.
This team needs to stop living on the accolades of the Bully days, letting men from that era influence what is happening today. It’s disgusting at this point. How long before Montreal becomes the next team to pass the Flyers? Franchises around the league realize where they are, and the validity of rebuilds in today’s league. The Flyers have their heads in the sand. |

So the core doesn't include the two players who played by far the most minutes last season. |

If anyone wants to repost their pro-Makar opinions from 2017, 2018 and 2019 then they should do that. Otherwise, they need to STFU.

The Flyers center depth is Couturier, Hayes, Laughton, Frost and you want to get rid of Hayes?

I even revisited consensus rankings from hockey writers and mock experts….most had him going 5th. It’s just getting over the top annoying.
I don’t see any Devils fans whining on passing on him. Sure Hesicher is a nice player, but he’s not close to the level of Makar. Still don’t see Devils fans mentioning Makar daily. |
