I think they better be careful not to diminish these prospects. Especially him. Where’s he playing? In Hartford? I mean he has no room here until 2026. He’s an asset until he isn’t anymore - Slimtj100
Ive been saying this all year. Dont fk with what people perceive to be prospect value.
The irony is I was hoping the Blueshirts would trade back into the first round to select Lambert, who went with the pick New York traded.
Could be worse. I just learned that the pick JR traded for the corpse of Brassard turned out to be the one you guys used for K'Andre. Talk about disgusted. At some point you should really have a night for Brassard. Not only landed you Mika, but in a way Miller as well
I must admit, when Wright dropped to Seattle at #4, I was hoping Drury would jump the line and present Ron Francis (Kraken GM) with an offer he couldn't refuse. No not the Godfather style of offer, just an obvious overpayment of Prospects and Picks to Draft Shane Wright.
He has potential to be another Bergeron. That type of player is a tremendous get, and moving Kakko and Othmann, along with some others, and our next 2 years of 1st Round Draft Picks may have worked.
I guess Drury can offer that same package today or at anytime down the road, but last night was an obvious opportunity to pounce.
When the Montreal trades were announced, I thought they pulled it off and swung a deal to move up and draft Wright after drafting Slavkovsky. Imagine that! But when that didn't happen, I thought Drury had his opportunity to move in and go get Wright.

I'm a little disappointed he didn't. - VinnyP
What would you have offered for the opportunity to draft Wright?
Edit; I now see what you wanted to offer

Who knows, maybe he tried. Maybe Francis feels the same way about Wright and said no way.
For myself, when we are this close to a complete roster I don't want to see a major trade. We fill in the FA holes the best we can with the cap restrictions on us for this season and see what the kids have learned from their recent experience. If needed, there are multitudes of line combinations that haven't been tried.
I could easily be wrong...
Kane is a better option over Miller because the price to obtain will be about the same, along with production, but Kane would re-sign at a much easier number to swallow. He’s coming of his 80 million dollar payday.
Oh jeez here we go, back to the dumb old days. People we need centers and a back up goalie, not wingers. It doesnt matter who it is. We need an affordable center to keep our salary structure. Kane is still producing over 90 points a year, over a point per game!! He isnt taking anything less than 8-9 mil per on a 4-5 year deal!!

You wanna get Panarin going? You go get Patty Kane.
No way in hell he gets that as UFA. Granted we make that deal, I’d think they’d discuss that part pretty extensively. And if it’s to much they don’t make the deal
you don't think Chytil could center Kane and Panarin? I could center them two.
Chytil would be a lock to score 60 pts and focus on defense. If BH really were to retain 50% for Kakko (and they wont), I think we would score a lot of goals and be a legit contender.

This is about where I’m at with the Kane talk. As much as I’d love him here I just don’t see how it works. Possibly a 3-4 year contract but I don’t see how he settles for anything less than $8M. And to your point, those dollars need to be going towards a center anyway. Probably a better chance of Toews coming over as 2/3C with Chicago retaining a ton to add pieces for their rebuild.

They just got a very underwhelming return for Debrincat. I don’t think it would cost much more than Kakko. Why wouldn’t they do that? He’s gone after the year anyway.
And your right..Chytil took a big step in the playoffs. He could explode with those two.
