Considering Tkachuk is better than every player on the Devils except Jack, there really isn't anyone I'm opposed to trading for him. I'd say Hamilton and hischier are untouchable too |

Mercer, Graves, Sharangovich, 2024 1st for Matty but only if at least a 5 yr contract is part of the deal. Take Graves out of the deal if NJ takes Lucic and all his salary (which might be a plus for the smallish NJ team)

got a feeling that Bratt hasn't been re-signed because his contract might be a principle part of what would be going back Tkachuk. |

The Flames will have to offer a premium it looks like. If he leaves too, rebuild and Treliving will be fired. |

If we trade for Tkachuk rights then sign him, can we offer that 8 yr deal ? Or is it still max 7 ? |

There's not a snowball's chance in hell we ever see Tkachuk here. I would LOVE to have him! But the asking price is going to be too high and will defeat the point of bringing him here.

8 years
And even if we traded for him there's no guarantee he signs |

Severson, Holtz, Shakir Mukhamadullin, #1 in 2023, #2 in 2024 for Tkachuk. |

The more realistic possibility is fleecing the Blues. They have to move a big money guy out and everyone knows they want Tkachuk so we'd have all the leverage in a Tarasenko trade.
He's a 1 year rental and they're desperate to create cap space if they have any chance at bringing on Matty. Fitz should be trying to fleece them for Vlady. A top 6 of...
Palat-Nico-Bratt
Sharangovich-Jack-Tarasenko
would be freaking DEADLY. |

If we trade Tkachuk, we're officially rebuilding. So send our way any dead salary you need to flush.
Also, if the Yotes are asking the equivalent of 4 first round picks for Chychrun, you have to believe Tkachuk would fetch the same, if not more.
So....
Let's say MK vs Bernier, Johnsson, Nemec, Foote, Okhotiuk, 1rst 2023, 1rst 2024?
Edit : this trade would be conditional on MK signing long-term with NJ obviously. |

Tkachuk is probably going to St Louis.
NJ needs to ensure that Tkachuk would sign before trading.
That's probably why it's going to take a week; the player needs to assure the team that's offering that he WILL sign. |

Chychrun still has 3 years left on his deal. Matty is a 1yr rental. Those two aren't equivalent comparisons |

I wouldn't even trade Bratt for Tkachuk one for one at this point. NJ had four highlights last year: Hughes becoming Hughes, Mercer becoming slick and eletric on top of being a splendid character player, Hischier starting to play more like a first overall pick, and Bratt driving every single line he played on like magic fairy dust.
But NJ won't be trading for Tkachuk so it's all moot. |

If Tkachuk is traded it's going to be less than Chychrun because the team he gets traded to still needs to hand him a huge contract on top of it. If it was so easy to get him signed to a 9-10 mil contract Calgary would've just done it already and we wouldn't be having this conversation in the first place. |

exactly! how often do we see sign and trades in the NHL? (frank)ing never! what motivation does Tkachuk have to resign with Calgary just so they can get more back for him? These Flames fans are stupid expecting a king's ransom back. It is highly UNLIKELY he resigns before a trade and a 1 year rental is NOT going to bring back a massive return.
No one knows better than a Devils fan how bad it sucks to lose franchise pieces for nothing, but that is exactly what Flames fans are facing with losing JG and soon Tkachuk. |
