Can't wait to watch Sykora play. Let's see if his game is really similar to Brad Marchand's.
After he was drafted, Sykora said he plays like Marchand.
We'll find out soon enough.

Trouba is the next captain of the NYR. This should go over well with some people

I have zero problem with this decision. I guess what it was was GG taking a year to see who he thought should be captain. Itโs the only thing that makes sense to me, wether heโs the right choice or not Iโm just glad we have one finally |

I have no problem with this, he earned that C.
I think for most of us the short list essentially came down to Ziba, Kreider or Trouba. |

New Ranger tradition. Next core vet to be traded gets to be captain. Callahan, McDonagh, Trouba |

I will get a blog up on this when itโs official. Donโt have a major problem with it, but to me, Chris Kreider should have been named the captain. Home grown player and leader in and off the ice. Trouba took on more of a leadership role last season, so I get naming him. But to me, Kreider should have been the choice. I donโt think it will change what Kreider brings to the team and locker room. |

Exactly.
Maybe the pressure of wearing the C could have been too much, although I think we all agree it would have been the right move. Look at Leetch after he got the C. |

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but Strome was on Missin Curfew podcast a few weeks ago and he mentioned that it was Trouba who pulled the team together when they went down 3-1 to Pitt in the first round

Jan I agree with ya but truth is we arenโt in that locker room. Maybe since Kreids has been here for so long and maybe heโs to friendly with everyone. Trouba hasnโt been here as long and maybe has set a different precedence for how heโs viewed by his teammates. All his interviews in his press conference seem to be pretty serious. I look at it that they are both leaders but there are different types of leaders. |

Heโs a good leader for sure. I doubt heโs moved now in 2024 but who knows after the cally and mcd situation |

This is a good point that is overlooked a lot. Sometimes the C changes ones attitude and game because they think they need to do more.
I am good with Trouba. Last season if finally became the player the Rangers needed in the regular season and the playoffs. If he just keeps that mentality, then we are solid. |

This is the sorta thing you gotta trust the coaches on. One thing is for sure, he turned (legal or not) the pens series around with the Crosby chicken wing/headshot/elbow whatever the masses called it. And again the Canes series when he knocked Jarvis into next week. Heโs an intimidating player to face and seems like a great teammate. Heโs this eras version of Scott Stevens who captained the Devils in their heyday if I recall
Trouba gets to much undeserving poop imo. They would be nowhere last year without him |

I am fine with it but honestly I saw Trouba as the player who might be moved in 2 years when his NMC becomes a limited trade clause to open up some cap space lol
Guess he may be here longer than we thought |

Just funny the rangers waited this long to name one just to have Kevin weeks ruin it on a random day in august lol |

Reposting as prior one didnโt take. Let me be clear. I donโt have a problem with Trouba getting the captaincy. Just prefer Kreider. But Kreider may not want the C, opting to lead behind the scenes and in the locker room.
Trouba was much berthed last season and major component in the teamโs growth. He still takes bad - not lazy - penalties and had to be better positionally to make up for his average foot speed. But he clearly was a leader on this team. |

This appears to be a situation of 1A and 1B captaincy situation. Whereby, arguments of the pro/con can be made by both. That only means that the Rangers have two quality leader options on the team. That is good problem to have. |

Ranger captains have an expiration date depending on their salary cap situation. |

Im probably the 2nd biggest Kreider fan in the world but I have no problem with this at all
it just goes to show, all the stuff people complain about regarding Trouba on the internet don't bother the Rangers as an organization one single bit
they love the guy |

Heโs just a well respected player on the team. Itโs not a bad move just donโt think heโs here long term still. But who knows |

I thought he would be moved too, and stil may be. But, maybe this is an indication that when the cap starts going up in greater increments, they might not be hunting big game. His cap %-age will go way down. |
