Lehner is on LTIR for the season, montreal retains half price’s salary.
Next year vegas would have to move Lehner.
Doubt price goes to Vegas, but cap wise it is actually a non issue… for this season at least.

I could see a deal IF Price gets medical clearance. I don't think Mtl will want to retain salary but if Vegas were to move Lehner to Mtl (the season end controversy might have sealed Lehner's fate in Vegas) then they need to come up with another 5.5M, which they can with Weber going to LTIR.

I could even see Vegas including Brossoit for the salary dump and it would give Mtl a tandem of Allen, Brossoit (if healthy) and Montembault plus Lehner on IR until next season. For Vegas they have Thompson split time with Price (keeping him rested and playoff ready). Plus with Weber on LTIR they can spend up to $90.35M. With Lehner and Brossoit gone they'd be at 73.5M and including Price it would be 84.0M. They'd still have 6.35M to spend (about 5.5M after calling up Thompson). They could even look to add other depth at forward to replace Pacioretty.

Only questions are:
- would Mtl trade Price?
- would both teams do a Lehner+Brossoit for Price deal? If so would there need to be sweeteners added? By which team?

Well they are trading an average starter. Price isn’t Price anymore. He had a good playoffs in the shortened season but he hasn’t done well in some time. $10.5 mill per season for him would be an abomination.

Vegas will be patient for the 1st time and see what their current goaltenders can do. If anything is to be done it will be to upgrade their BU if Broissoit is not healthy by November.

If Price didn't have a NMC, don't you think they'd be giving away assets if they could clear half of Price's contract off the books? If Price went to them and said he'd be willing to play in Vegas, they'd do everything they could to make it happen.

It doesn't really matter though. Vegas has made some awful decisions, but there's no way they'd do something this stupid.
