No one unless the jersey sales are down. Larsson would be choice because his contract would end hypothetically when Wright/Beniers would be young players taking the next step and get it in their next contract |

no one..wait at least this season and maybe next season before announcing a Captain.
Eberle, Larsson, McCann and now just journeymen players.... Beniers or Wright should be ready in a couple of years time to become Captain. |

None of the above.
Oleksiak is the big d anchor. My puck is him as Captain with Ebs, Gourde, McCann as the A’s. |

I could see no one too but then if Beniers and Wright are the future can also see Francis not wanting to rush them and put too much on them. IF they do go with someone I think Big Rig is the stable anchor on defence to bridge that gap with the other 3 vets filling in. Buys them a few years time that way. I just am not sure you go captainless for a few years. Leaving it one year doesnt do much to avoid housting it all on young shoulders.
Going to be interesting to see what Francis does. |

Daniel Sprong gets a PTO - Roadrunner75
He will make the roster. He has some great numbers per 60 min TOI. Always stuck on stacked teams in a minimal role. He is good at bumping around the lineup and will produce.

They can go without a captain for more than one year. I'm not sure who deserves it. I could see them just going with Larsson. He's been around a long time, doesn't seem to cause any lockerroom issues. Comes across as a quiet leader. I figure they go with age if they do want a captain. Eberle doesn't seem like the guy who wants it.

True. Curious to see how it plays put there. And yeah Sprong is a solid add for depth there. Like what Francis has done this offseason and thinking they could really surprise teams some. |

If they can get some quality goaltending they will perform better. The good news about being so bad last year is you can only go up!
I still think Hakstol is a terrible coach though

Give the 'C' to Eberle he has 2 years left then you will have plenty of options to choose from. |

I agree. Goalies were inconsistent but also didnt get a whole lot of help last year too. Dreidger being out kind of hurts especially if Gru struggles. I wouldnt trust Jones to do a lot of carrying the team.
I do think Hakstol was the wrong choice and mistake. Will see but the systems last year were bad. That was on coaching. If they continue to have those issues will Francis pull the trigger on making a bench move?! Thats an interesting little storyline to keep an eye on. |

I hope he DOES make a bench move if that's the case.
Healthy goalie tandem should get a few more wins. I want to see them be competitive in more games, give the real young guys a better culture to develop in than perpetual losing.

I agree. I think he will too. He was quick last year to point out how they had lost a LOT of 1 goal games for lack of scoring. I think if they keep having issues then that will be another course correction there.
Big thing there is keeping Gru healthy. Theyre going to have to ride him. Jones is okay and better than having to run D’Accord out there, but I dont think he will syeal us a lot of games.
Have to just wait and see but 19 days… |
